NextImg:‘It’s Slipping Away’: James Carville Calls For Democrats To Take Some Radical Actions To Hold Power

Democrat veteran strategist James Carville calls for radical actions by Democrats in order to hold on to power, which he said is "slipping" away from the party by the minute.

The comments were made during Carville and Al Hunt's "Politics War Room" podcast, when the two men bemoaned several Republican popular vote victories, including President Donald Trump's recent one, and said that it has allowed Republicans to control two-thirds of the United States Supreme Court, so something has to be done.

"And if the Democrats win the Presidency, the Senate, and the House in 2028, which is not impossible…. They are just going to have to unilaterally add Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia as states, Carville said.

Startling Statement From Carville on Whether He Would Support AOC for President: 'If You Win, You Win'

"The Constitution gives Congress power over federal elections," he added.  I don't think they can redistrict, but there's things they can do, but they're going to have to do it. They're just going to have to do it."

"And they may have to expand the [US Supreme] Court to 13 members," Carville continued. "Any of those things in isolation, I would be skeptical about … if you want to save democracy, I think you've got to do all of them."

Carville claimed that these actions must be taken because the country is "moving further and further from being anything close to a democracy."

He said if they get a Democrat President, on day one, that person should add four more U.S. senators, four more Supreme Court justices, and some "stringent national legislation on how you could do congress.” One of those suggestions is that they pass a rule that redistricting could only happen every 10 years.

"If you are going to save this country, this Republic, you're going to have to do something in 2028 cause it's slipping away from us by about a minute," Carville declared.

Diving into some of these suggestions, a Republican would just have to announce these are the Democrats' plans once they get back in power, and that should end any shot of it happening. However, I have been around for a bit, and I have seen how the balance of power swings like a pendulum, back and forth.

The "Ragin' Cajun" has been trying to sound the alarm about the state of his party a lot recently. As my RedState colleague Mike Miller reported, the ex-Clinton strategist wrote a New York Times op-ed, saying, "The Democratic party is in shambles."

After his brutal opening paragraph, Carville wrote:

Zohran Mamdani's victory in New York City's Democratic mayoral primary wasn't an isolated event. It represents an undeniable fissure in our political soul

We are divided along generational lines.: Candidates like Mr. Mamdani are impatient for an economic future that folks my age are skeptical can be delivered.

We are divided along ideological lines: A party that is historically allegiant to the state of Israel is at odds with a growing faction that will not look past the abuses in Gaza and the West Bank. From "Medicare for All" purists to Affordable Care Act reformists, the list goes on and on.

Carville's comments both terrify me and make me happy. On one hand, to see the lengths Democrats will take to hold on to power is frightening and should be a wake-up call to anyone not paying attention.

And on the other hand, makes me smile, knowing a veteran Democrat strategist like him has seen that his party's insanity, like woke culture, DEI, and transgender nonsense, is coming to an end. And that is a very good thing.

Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
