NextImg:'It's Coming': Dems Hardest Hit After US Attorney Provides Update on ICE Sweeps, Rioter Prosecutions

Implicit in what we're seeing take place in California from the activist left and their Democrat/media allies is that if they keep at it long enough, President Trump is going to get ICE to back down.

Remember, the goal of these agitators is always to capture that "iconic" moment between purportedly "peaceful protesters" and law enforcement that they believe will draw outrage and sympathy for their "cause," and - in the process - more people to their side.

We saw it with Occupy Wall Street - where demonstrators would push human shields (the youngest, the oldest, and others perceived as "weak") to the front lines, we saw it with the Antifa/Black Lives Matter-led riots from 2020, and we're seeing it now with the violence and unrest currently happening in Los Angeles County.

The problem with the thought process that involves Trump backing down is that he doesn't have a history of it, and that goes double when we're talking about illegal immigration, where his policies continue to get solid marks from voters.

Further, in addition to news of 500 Marines getting set to deploy to the area, there's the little matter of Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, who told Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin in response to questions that immigration enforcement efforts will not be slowing down:

NEW: I asked U.S. Attorney in LA @USAttyEssayli if there’s any world where the LA riots get bad enough that the Feds will stop their immigration enforcement.

He said absolutely not - and that the riots will have the opposite effect, leading to more military and federal resources being sent into LA. Nothing will stop their federal immigration operations, he said.

Further, Essayli told Melugin that there are "many" investigations going on regarding those who have been arrested and said that even those who hadn't been arrested but who nevertheless participated shouldn't feel that they've escaped justice, because "it's coming":

Essayli also told me his office has many open investigations into looters, rioters, arsonists, and rock/stone throwers, adding that every piece of available video and social media will be combed through and that the targets shouldn’t feel comfortable just because they haven’t been arrested. “It’s coming,” he said.

Essayli also provided the network with an update of sorts on the arrest of David Huerta, the president of the SEIU's California branch:

I asked Essayli if that arrest is meant to send more of a “don’t interfere with our guys” message, or if he’s actually looking to put Huerta in federal prison?

Essayli told me the federal agents had no idea who Huerta was when he was arrested, and that he will receive no special treatment. Yes, he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and the same will happen to anyone else who interferes, Essayli said.

Essayli, as RedState readers will recall, announced a new "Guardian Angel" team in mid-May that is designed specifically to take criminal illegal immigrants off the street by getting around the so-called "sanctuary city" laws that are so prevalent in the Golden State. Melugin covered it at the time and explained it this way:

Essayli has organized a federal task force made up of ICE, FBI, HSI, DEA, and ATF, working out of an office in downtown LA. Every single day, they are now scanning criminal databases w/ fingerprints and identifying illegal aliens in jails throughout Southern California who have been previously deported from the United States.

If they've come back to the US after a deportation, they've committed a federal felony under 8 USC 1326 known as "illegal re-entry".

As soon as the task force ID's an alien booked into a local jail who has a previous deportation, they seek a federal criminal warrant on them for felony re-entry, signed off on by a federal judge.

Unlike an administrative ICE warrant or ICE detainer request, these criminal judicial warrants for 8 USC 1326 *CANNOT* be ignored by sanctuary jurisdictions, and California's sanctuary state law cannot shield aliens from these criminal warrants. Instead of releasing the alien inmates and ignoring ICE detainers, jails must hand the aliens over to the Feds, regardless of sanctuary policy.

It's an operation that has caught the attention of other U.S. Attorneys, who indicated to Essayli that they would be interested in setting up something similar in their "sanctuary" jurisdictions.

In short, Essayli is not simply a tough talker. He's a walk-the-walk type, and as indicated by his response to the latest round of rioter violence in Los Angeles County, this is only going to strengthen his resolve.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
