Congressman Andy Ogles sent a letter to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum on Thursday, requesting that his department consider adding President Donald Trump to Mount Rushmore.
It is a move sure to drive liberals apoplectic with rage. But then, how would anybody be able to tell the difference from their ordinary disposition?
Ogles (R-TN) argues that Trump deserves the honor of being placed on the national monument due to his recent accomplishments, of which there are many, and because he is symbolic of another chapter with those already carved into the Black Hills who "represent the birth, growth, development, and preservation of the United States."
"Like George Washington, he champions American independence and is reshaping the presidency with strength and clarity of purpose," he tells Burgum. "Like Thomas Jefferson, he is expanding America's horizons and pursuing reforms that reorient the country's economic direction and return power to the people."
"Like Theodore Roosevelt, he takes on entrenched interests and is reinvigorating American industry, rebuilding the military, and safeguarding the working class from bureaucratic overreach. And like Abraham Lincoln, he is fighting to preserve the Union – this time not from secession, but from invasion, drift, decline, and the steady erosion of self-government."

The Jacksonian President Trump Implements His Trump Doctrine
Ogles' letter suggests that Trump's accomplishments represent structural change that will benefit this nation for decades to come. He is asking for a review of the feasibility of adding a fifth figure to the mountain.
Should this idea gain traction, and it seems far-fetched, one can only hope they use the President's mugshot as a model for the addition. Or perhaps a more somber image taken when he yelled for his supporters to fight for their country after he was nearly assassinated.
This isn't the first time a member of Congress has pushed to get Trump's face on the South Dakota landmark. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) submitted a bill in January to add Trump’s likeness to Mount Rushmore, where he would sit alongside George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, four men widely considered America’s most influential presidents.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem once relayed that it was the President's "dream" to be featured on Mount Rushmore. Who wouldn't want that?
"He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand,'" Noem recalled. "I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?"
"I started laughing," the former governor of South Dakota added.. "He wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious."
All of this speculation and dreaming may be for naught. The New York Times ran a column last week analyzing whether or not another face could go up on Mount Rushmore. They found that the National Park Service believes there is no room.
No matter. Trump, for all of his accomplishments, is unique among presidents and probably deserves his own big, beautiful mountain.
