We’ve seen it from the mainstream media so often in recent months—the sob stories of illegal aliens, often criminal, nabbed by ICE even though they were loving, peace-abiding people who were just trying to raise families. We had “Maryland father” Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was actually from El Salvador and was an MS-13 gang member and accused human trafficker; we’ve seen the Democrats and the press defend Algerian-Palestinian pro-Hamas America hater Mahmoud Khalil, who was a driving force behind the antisemitic, often violent protests at Columbia University in 2024.

There may indeed be sad stories out there, but they keep picking ones that, well… aren’t. To wit, we now have another terrible tale, this one courtesy of NBC News:

ICE agents held a 5-year-old autistic girl outside her Massachusetts home to pressure her father to surrender to authorities last week, according to the girl's family.

The mother said they had taken her daughter for no reason whatsoever:

The girl is sitting beside what appears to be a law enforcement SUV and holding a bottle while encircled by the several men, according to the video.

"They took my daughter, she’s 5-years-old. She has autism spectrum," the girl's mother says in the video. "Give me my daughter back."

Oh no! That is awful, despicable, inhuman. These dastardly ICE agents aren’t trying to enforce immigration law; they’re trying to terrorize Americans.

That would be the case—if the story were true, but the Department of Homeland Security says it’s all a crock. The father abandoned the child, they maintain:

The tweet, from Tricia McLaughlin, the no-nonsense DHS Assistant Secretary, continued:

The target, Edwards Hip Mejia, ignored law enforcement emergency lights to pull over and drove back to his house. He fled from the car, gave officers the double middle finger, and darted inside his house. He abandoned his 5-year-old daughter in the car. Officers helped rescue the child and called local police to report the abandonment.

Disgusting smears like these peddled by the media are leading to a 1000% increase in assaults against our brave law enforcement.

Turns out the suspect has been in the U.S. for 25 years and was less than cooperative with authorities. Add that to his “previous arrests for domestic abuse and strangulation,” and NBC’s narrative isn’t quite so compelling. Meanwhile, the daughter was returned to her mother without harm. Edward was later detained and is being held at an ICE detention center in Plymouth.

Cleaning up the illegal immigration mess that’s been allowed to fester in this country for so long—and which was greatly exacerbated by former President Joe Biden’s disastrous “let them all in!” border policies—was never going to be an easy or pleasant job.

But the constant stream of misinformation from the media and the fangirling of criminals by Democrats is merely meant to elicit outrage—it’s not about helping America tackle this problem or become safer.
