NextImg:ICE Drops Brilliant Statement on LA Mayor for Refusal to Work With Them, Then Stephen Miller Finishes Her

Democrats made a bad move in 2020 when they embraced "defund the police."

They're doing a similar thing now in 2025, embracing illegal aliens, despite the American public demonstrating in polling and by voting for President Donald Trump how important they think it is to deal with the issue of illegal aliens.

But even after the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, you still have Democrats like Mayor Karen Bass refusing to work with ICE.

@FoxNews producer asked LA Mayor Karen Bass this morning if she would be willing to meet with ICE and if there is a deal to be made re: ICE cooperation. Bass said the only deal is for ICE to go home, and she gave no indication she would be willing to meet w/the agency.

That seems like a perfectly reasonable question. If you think they're going too hard, why not talk and work out parameters?

But the only parameter for Bass is that they go home and stop enforcing the law, showing it isn't about going too hard or how they're doing it, it's that they're enforcing the law at all. That's ridiculous, but that's where the Democrats are.

Of course, ICE is going to do its job on behalf of the American people, whether Democrats like Bass like it or not, even in the face of obstruction and threats. They responded with what Melugin termed a "blistering statement" that pokes at her for being out of the country during the L.A. fires.

"ICE isn't going anywhere and will continue to do what Mayor Bass has utterly failed to do - protect the citizens of Los Angeles. If she wants distance from federal law enforcement, I'm sure there is an upcoming diplomatic trip to Ghana." - Emily Covington, Assistant Director, ICE Office of Public Affairs

That is a brilliant burn from ICE, noting her general failure on behalf of the citizens of Los Angeles.

But she dug a deeper hole when she decided to wade into the responses to Melugin's tweet. I didn't see her respond to justify her position, but she did respond to a post from Trump official Stephen Miller when he termed her response the "language of insurrection."

Bass responded with this, not realizing it's never a good idea to take on Miller.

Then Miller finished her with the photo she was "looking for" — one of the many people waving foreign flags during the L.A. riots, this one infamously standing on a burning car.

I haven't seen a response to that.

That's what she let happen in her city. This is what the left has helped to stoke with the anti-ICE demonization, and her statement is just another part of that by acting as though ICE is in the wrong. Republicans should collect all these statements from Democrats and play them on a loop in 2026 because this is how the Democrats are defining themselves now.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
