We've seen Bill Maher call out the Democrats on multiple issues.
But his TDS always seems to have stood in the way of his further movement.
Now, during a conversation on his "Club Random" podcast with actor Esai Morales, Maher made a surprising statement about his political affiliation.
"I never was a Democrat to begin with," Maher said during his "Club Random" podcast released on Saturday with his guest, actor Esai Morales. "I always like caucus with the Democrats and I generally vote for them," the comedian added. [....]
"I think, always vote for them, but I always look at it and like no, I'm gonna actually make up my mind, they just always are less scary and insane than the Republicans, but I wait for the day when it evens out," Maher said.
He added that, "We're approaching that because they have gotten crazier, and that's a lot of what you're referencing. But I never said I left the party 'cause I wasn't there to begin with."
Now of course the Democrats were always crazier than Republicans - Maher was just deluding himself. But it sounds like he's almost at the point where he can't deny reality any longer.
It's also quite something that he wouldn't even call himself a Democrat and wants to make sure that people know that.
The thing about this is that it goes far beyond Maher. If Maher who has been so anti-Trump and frankly liberal for years can move so far and realize how extreme they've become, how are the people on the center-left who haven't been so entrenched viewing the extremism from the Democrats?
I think we saw the answer to that question with how many people moved right in the November election, including how many were from groups that might have in the past been considered generally more Democrat-leaning.
It's why you have even Democrat advisors who are not insane, like Dan Turrentine, calling out the extreme reaction to President Donald Trump's strikes on the nuclear sites in Iran. The first move by some Democrats was to call for impeachment, seemingly forgetting about the various actions that Barack Obama took, including regarding Libya.
But, it needs to be said by more Democrats: this was not an impeachable offense, and Trump did not need congressional approval for one precision attack under the circumstances, just as Obama did not when striking Bin Laden.

It seems like the only guiding principle Democrats have left is to be anti-Trump, as they go off track on woke issues, illegal immigration, and now even foreign policy.
Is it any wonder Maher doesn't want to be identified with Democrats?
The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject their globalist agenda.
