Looks like Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) may be about to lose his 15 minutes of fame, because NYC Comptroller Brad Lander is about to become the new Democrat "victim" of the moment to push their anti-ICE narrative.
Lander told an AP reporter Tuesday that he was at the immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza in New York City trying to "accompany" people coming out of the courtroom. ICE has been picking up people there as part of their actions. Can we talk about another effort at a viral moment?

ICE went to detain the man outside the immigration court. Lander was arm-in-arm with him, according to reports. He shouted at them, "Show me your warrant," as the agents were trying to detain the man.
"I will let go when you show me the judicial warrant," he said, still holding onto the man.
Then they pulled the person they were trying to detain away and also detained Lander.
He claimed they "don't have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens." They explained to him that he was obstructing.
His wife admitted from his X account that he was "escorting a defendant" and had been "detained."
This is just ridiculous behavior, people could have gotten hurt.
Oh, and guess what? Lander is running for mayor. I'm sure that's just a coincidence. Perhaps he thinks that this will play well with the voters. But even in New York City, this may not go over well; people are tired of the problems there too.
But he thinks you should vote for him because he has a "responsible approach to leadership."
It sure didn't look like it there, Brad. He said he wants to "protect our immigrant neighbors from Trump's authoritarianism." It's all about stoking that narrative. But he's not going for the viral moment, no siree.
Democrats really can't stop going over the slide on this issue and getting themselves into trouble. They don't get that no, it doesn't make you look responsible, it just makes you look extreme and out of step with most Americans on the issue. Americans want this issue addressed, whether Democrats like it or not. It's one of the main issues that President Donald Trump won on.
Poor Alex Padilla is still trying to milk his incident in the media. But now, he's not going to have the attention anymore.

Bet on it, we will now be seeing all the usual Democrat voices weighing in on how mean and awful this was to react this way to Lander. They will cry about the evil authoritarian Trump team without talking about Lander's actions.
