Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) on Saturday joined in on the new Democrat strategy to fight back against President Trump's agenda, which involves cursing to seem super-edgy while producing videos worthy of entry into the Cringe Hall of Fame.
Swalwell took to TikTok and posted a video where he joked that Elon Musk is secretly the "real" president and yet somehow didn't speak at the joint address to Congress this past week.
"What a f**king week, huh?" the bleary-eyed congressman says, holding his phone in selfie mode. "You know how weird this week was?"
"I went to the State of the Union, and the president didn't even speak. He just sat up in the visitor's gallery like a total weirdo and let his press secretary do all the talking," he continued. "What a week."
What a week

Not sure what theme Eric is going with here. It seems to be some desperate attempt to be viewed as a brooding rock star, a smoldering volcano of machismo in his mind. Unfortunately, if he simply looked into a mirror, Swalwell would understand that he can't pull that look off.
This is a nerd who you just know was on the receiving end of an atomic wedgie nearly every day of his junior high career. He is, after all, a guy who broke both of his thumbs playing soccer. And yet Democrats keep trying to push these zero-charisma rubes as new hipsters to the pre-teen set. That's weird.
We Didn't Think Eric Swalwell Could Be Any Grosser, but He Just Proved Us Wrong
Side note: Could you imagine if Trump or any other Republican made a joke similar to this? The fact-checking Avengers would have produced column after column pointing out that no, Swalwell did not attend a SOTU, nor is Musk the president. Snopes? Politifact? Where's y'all gone?
Anyhoo, this is yet another in a long line of attempts by Democrats and the media to drive a wedge between Musk and Trump. And, like most of their tactics since the election, it has failed miserably.
Folks had a field day raking Swalwell over the coals, much of it involving your requisite commentary about Chinese spies. His TikTok video comments are a 90-10 ratio of mockery-support. Responses on X were ruthless.
"He’s one of those guys who thinks he (is) hot," one woman responded. "But he is not."
"The dude looks high as a kite in this video," one viewer quipped. "Eric is very weird."
"Says the guy taking a creepy selfie video from what appears to be a bathroom stall in a middle school. Sure dude. We're the weird ones," another fired back.
Libs of TikTok joined in on the fun and reminded folks of some of Eric's most notoriously weird moments.
Swalwell, as everyone knows at this point, had a well-documented relationship with a Chinese spy, who managed to get an intern placed in the California Democrat’s Washington office. Some have speculated that the relationship was sexual, something the congressman has not specifically denied.
Aside from getting amorous with Chinese spies – allegedly – Swalwell is best known for going shirtless with his boys (including Sen. Ruben Gallego (AZ)) on a camel in Qatar, portraying himself as a comic book superhero like the Avengers, and passing gas on live television.
Weird, right?
