House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) faces a tough reality—no one is really interested in what he has to say anymore, and the leaders of the Democrat party are now extremists like NY Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the flamethrowing circus act that is Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett—and the democrat socialist candidate for New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani is one of the most far-left politicians to gain traction in modern American history, and Dems are struggling mightily to sound supportive of their fellow party member while also trying to subtly distance themselves from his more outlandish policies. It hasn’t gone well for them.
Hakeem was unable to keep his cool on Thursday when asked about Mamdani’s vision for America, and tried to blame the messenger instead of the wild-eyed candidate himself:
On Thursday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) responded to questions on attacks on the free market by New York City mayoral candidate Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and former President Joe Biden by saying that “I’m trying to understand why you would spend a significant amount of time asking me about the Democratic nominee, who’s not even the mayor.” And “It’s interesting that we’re talking about Joe Biden, no longer the president, Elizabeth Warren, who’s a Senator, as opposed to Donald Trump,” the current President.
Watch as Jeffries squirms:
Why are you being asked about Mamdani, Mr. Jeffries? Because he’s poised to become mayor of the most populous city in the nation—a city that’s in the state you represent—and he’s the voice of your party right now, not you. You and your cronies bought into this extremist vision when it suited you; you’re not just going to be able to wash your hands of it now and pretend you’re just some middle-of-the-road, common-sense politician.
The Democrat party went all in on progressivism, and it’s failed at every level—crime, homelessness, destroyed cities, racial division, you name it. You own it, Jeffries, Chuck Schumer, Gavin Newsom, et al. The rise of someone like Zohran Momdani was paved by your rhetoric and your actions.

Jeffries continued to flail under questioning, as he has done consistently since becoming the listless minority leader (emphasis mine):
“It’s interesting that we’re talking about Joe Biden, no longer the president, Elizabeth Warren, who’s a Senator, as opposed to Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, his administration, as well as complete control of government in Washington, D.C., the House and the Senate. That’s the problem that we are confronting right now. And our challenge is to actually make sure that we are addressing the issues of significance to the American people. And the number one issue is the high cost of living that they’ve failed to address.”
The high cost of living—really, Mr. Jeffries? Newsflash: crippling inflation reached nine percent under your president, Joe Biden. Now it’s under three. Explain that, would you?
Zohran Mamdani and Jasmine Crockett are the new faces of the Democrat party. You can try to run from that, Rep. Jeffries, but you can't hide.
The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject their extreme vision.
