The “Big Beautiful Bill” that Trump wants to enact his agenda made it through the House of Representatives early Thursday by a whisker. Although it still faces more negotiations in the Senate, it was a big step forward in getting the measure to the president’s desk.
There’s a lot of coping going around in the Democrat party as they portray this legislation as quite possibly the end of the world. There’s one man who’s particularly indignant about it, because it’s yet another GOP step to dismantle his legacy. We’re talking, of course, about former president Barack Obama:
They want to cut federal funding for Medicaid, take away tax credits that help more people afford coverage, and raise costs for working class families.
It’s yet another tired attempt by Democrats to scare citizens and portray Republicans as heartless meanies who want to kneecap the elderly and punish the poor. The fear-mongering doesn’t work as well as it used to, however, as they found out to their chagrin in November.
Of course, he had more:
So let your voice be heard and reach out to your senators now to let them know how much this will impact you.
To me, Biden's Inflation Reduction Act and the billions it earmarked for pie-in-the-sky green energy projects and divisive social justice initiatives was more harmful to the average American than anything I’ve seen in this "Big Beautiful Bill."

Here’s what’s actually in the measure. While of course not everyone got what they wanted (that’s called “compromise”) and there are some elements that will dismay this faction or that faction, it doesn’t actually sound like it will destroy the country and kill all the elderly in the near future if it becomes law:
The bill — titled the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” adopting Trump’s slogan for the measure — extends the tax cuts enacted by the president during his first term in 2017; boosts funding for border, deportation, and national defense priorities; imposes reforms, like beefed-up work requirements, on Medicaid that are projected to result in millions of low-income individuals losing health insurance; rolls back green energy tax incentives; and, among many other provisions, increases the debt limit by $4 trillion.
It also does away with taxes on tips and overtime — two of Trump’s campaign promises.
I don’t presume to know every in and out of this bill—it’s over one thousand pages of often complex tax stuff (which always makes me dizzy) and funding for various priorities. Nevertheless, I have this sixth sense that if Barack Obama doesn’t like it, that can only mean one thing—there’s some good stuff in it.
