NextImg:'Game on': Tom Homan Has a Pointed Message for Zohran Mamdani Over Vow to 'Trump-Proof' NYC If Elected

New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani's apparent victory in New York City's Democrat mayoral primary has sparked a national conversation surrounding what it would mean for the future of the Big Apple - and the Democrat  Party - were the Democrat Socialist party member to get elected in November.

Among the things he's pledged to do if elected are rent freezes, city-owned grocery stores, raising the minimum wage to $30 by 2030, and "Trump-proofing" NYC, which would include ending all cooperation with ICE and "strengthening" Resistance efforts on behalf of illegal immigrants.

"He’ll ensure our immigrant New Yorkers are protected by strengthening our sanctuary city apparatus: getting ICE out of all City facilities and ending any cooperation, increasing legal support, and protecting all personal data," it was noted on Mamdani's platform page

Naturally, such vows have gotten the attention of border czar Tom Homan, who said in a Fox News interview that federal law enforcement officials would be "doubling down and tripling down" on immigration enforcement in sanctuary cities like NYC and knew how to do end runs, if necessary, around whatever Mamdani has in store if elected:

"Federal law trumps him ... every day, every hour of every minute," Homan continued. "We're going to be in New York City, matter of fact, because it's a sanctuary city and President Trump made it clear a week and a half ago, we're going to double down and triple down on sanctuary cities."

Homan later added: "Were going to concentrate in sanctuary cities because we know they're releasing public safety threats and national security threats back to the street, so we know we've got a problem there."

Homan also noted that if they couldn't pick up illegals at courthouses or jails, they'd find them in other ways:

Trump's border czar asserted that if immigration enforcement officials can't arrest people in jail, they would "find them" in neighborhoods or work sites, adding, "so game on, we're coming."

Trying to "Trump-proof" their liberal enclaves is something we're also seeing being attempted in other deep blue parts of the country like California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom signed two bills back in February to "Trump-proof" the Golden State by way of providing what some Republican lawmakers called a $25 million "slush fund" for "legal battles" against the Trump administration and another $25 million "for local legal [aid] services."

It's hard to predict what's going to be more fascinating to watch play out if Mamdani wins in November: Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) trying to walk the tight-rope between being the most powerful Jewish elected leader in America and having to play nice with the openly antisemitic mayor of one of the world's most iconic cities, or the legal wrangling that undoubtedly will go on between a Mamdani administration and Trump's DOJ over the "Trump-proofing."

But the election's gotta happen first, of course. We'll see what happens after that.

Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
