NextImg:Game On: Donald Trump Confronts Maine Governor in Heated Exchange Over Vow to Defy Women's Sports EO

As expected, the Dem/media Resistance™ to President Donald Trump's executive orders has taken on many forms, including Beltway bureaucrats engaging in malicious compliance, partisan judges who seem to be hellbent on stripping rightful powers from the executive branch that were employed in previous administrations, and Democrat politicians who are openly issuing threats against members of and advisors to the Trump administration.

Another form of resistance is coming from blue states, some of which are defying Trump's executive order that protects women's sports from men who say they identify as women participating in them.

In Minnesota, for instance, the "governing body for high school sports says it will follow state law... and continue to allow transgender athletes to compete in prep athletics." In Maine, the Principals' Association said earlier this month that the EO "and our Maine state Human Rights Act are in conflict, and the Maine Principal's Association will continue to follow state law as it pertains to gender identity."

Maine, in particular, has perhaps earned the most ire from Trump on this front, as on Thursday night at a Republican Governors Association gathering, he said federal funding would be withheld from the state if they refused to comply.

"I hate to tell you this, but we're not going to give them any federal money, they are still saying ‘we want men to play in women’s sports' and I can not believe that they're doing that...," he stated.

And on Friday, things got tense when Trump directly confronted Maine's Democrat Gov. Janet Mills directly during his greeting to the National Governors Association working session at the White House:

"Is Maine here? The governor of Maine?" Trump said, before locating Mills seated nearby at a table in the White House State Dining Room. "Are you not going to comply with it?"

Mills replied, "I'm going to comply with state and federal law."

"We are the federal law," Trump responded. "You better do it because you're not going to get any federal funding at all if you don't. And by the way, your population ‒ even though it's somewhat liberal, although I did very well there ‒ your population doesn't want men playing in women's sports."

Mills then said, "We're going to follow the law, sir. We'll see you in court."

Trump got the last word in the back and forth. "Enjoy your life after, governor, because I don't think you'll be an elected official afterwards."

“Good, I’ll see you in court. I look forward to that," he also remarked in response to her "see you in court" statement. "That should be a real easy one."

The Usual Suspects, of course, are lining up to accuse Trump of "bullying" Mills as she morphs into the latest Resist Movement rock star. But I should note that none of these people expressed any objections whatsoever when the Biden administration threatened to withhold federal education funding to any state that did not comply with their directives as it related to gender identity politics, including allowing so-called "transgender women" to play in women's sports.

The activist left and their woke media allies started the war on this issue, and now Trump is vowing to demolish it. It's Game On and I am so here for it.
