President Trump on Monday indicated he'd be sending "more weapons" to Ukraine following weeks of criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin's unwillingness to negotiate peace.
The narrative that Trump is Putin's puppet will surely take a significant blow following the announcement.
“We’re going to send some more weapons,” Trump told reporters during a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We have to; they have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard now."
"They’re getting hit very hard, we’re going to have to send more weapons — defensive weapons, primarily. But, they’re getting hit very, very hard.”

Pentagon Halting Some Munitions to Ukraine: We Can't Afford It
Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell issued a statement outlining briefly how the Defense Department will carry out the President's order.
"At President Trump's direction, the Department of Defense is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine to ensure the Ukrainians can defend themselves while we work to secure a lasting peace and ensure the killing stops," Parnell said.
"Our framework for POTUS to evaluate military shipments across the globe remains in effect and is integral to our America First defense priorities."
The move will no doubt ruffle some feathers amongst that very America First contingent, who believe Ukraine should cease being the beneficiaries of American taxpayer dollars and weapons, which were delivered through an unregulated spigot by the Biden administration.
This move differs on two fronts:
Still, it comes at a time when the Pentagon has insisted it can't afford to provide munitions to Ukraine.
"The Pentagon has looked at inventories and will be stopping shipments of some missiles and other munitions," RedState's Ward Clark wrote last week. "Why? Because we're running dangerously low."
Is this simply a case of the President trying to spur peace negotiations with Putin, reminding him that the United States remains on the side of Ukraine, even as patience has been waning?
Trump has expressed frustration in recent days with the Russian President, as he continues to push for a peace deal he promised during his campaign.
Late last month, Trump revealed that Putin had called him about possibly negotiating peace between the United States and Iran, and the President essentially told him, 'Worry about your own issues.'
This past Thursday, Trump told reporters he was "very disappointed" after his phone call with Putin, stating that he "didn't make any progress" in his attempt to negotiate peace.
The President insisted he's "not happy" about how Putin is handling things. Perhaps the strikes on Iran's nuclear sites last month would serve as a good reminder to Russia that when Trump is not happy about the pace of things, he is willing to make bold moves.
