You've been talking tonight about these government healthcare plans that you've proposed in one form or another. This is a show of hands question, and hold them up for a moment, so people can see. Raise your hand if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants.
Hint: She means illegal aliens. Note that every candidate, including "Autopen Joe" Biden and Kamala Harris, raised their hands. Every one of them. Now, that little incident is coming back to haunt Democrats.
As the federal government shutdown continues, a clip from the 2020 Democratic presidential primary went viral when the candidates were asked if they support providing healthcare to those in the country illegally.
"Is JD Vance a liar or just woefully ignorant when claiming that Democrats want to give health benefits to undocumented immigrants?" disgraced former Democratic Minnesota Sen. Al Franken posted to X on Wednesday, leading to the clip being posted in the comments by one user.
"Raise your hand if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants," NBC News anchor Savannah Guthrie asked while moderating the June 2019 debate followed by all ten Democrats on stage raising their hands.
Franken’s post triggered a range of responses, including from conservatives.
Now, let's be fair; this isn't an official policy proposal. No legislation or rule change is being proposed here. It's just... well, it's just every single Democrat (and one Independent, the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont) presidential candidate, raising their hands in a Pavlovian response to the mention of free stuff for illegal immigrants.
The clip, which included multiple current members of Congress like Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif.; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.; and Sen Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., also garnered the attention of billionaire Elon Musk, who posted "lol" in response to the debate video, which means "laugh out loud."
LOL, indeed.

Oh, now that they've shut down the government in a fit of Trump Derangement Syndrome, they claim that the big mean Republicans aren't telling the truth when they point out that, yes, illegal aliens were receiving free healthcare - not free, of course, but paid for by us taxpayers - during the administration of "Autopen Joe" Biden. We've seen that point corrected time and again, and here we have the Democrat candidates, the last time they had an open primary, agreeing 100 percent that they would, yes, happily guarantee illegal aliens free healthcare. Free to the aliens, that is; TANSTAAFL applies (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch), and the taxpayers would have been on the hook for the cost.
As the great Warner Wolf was fond of saying, "Let's go to the videotape." This has been the policy, official and unofficial, of Democrats for a long time now. They try to hide it, they try to deny it, they try to accuse Republicans of being big, mean, doody-headed liars about it, but here you have it.
The GOP should be playing this in every single campaign ad, from now until the midterms, and probably through the 2028 presidential campaign. Not only is it comedy gold, but it shows up the Democrats for what they really are.
