Elon Musk explained the black eye he was sporting in the Oval Office Friday that everyone was talking about on social media, saying he'd been horsing around with his 5-year-old son when he told him to punch him in the face.
During a press conference at the White House with President Donald Trump, one member of the White House Press Corps had to ask the question everyone was thinking — and that was what exactly happened to cause Musk's blackened right eye?
Musk first laughed and cracked a joke that he hadn't been "anywhere near France," a reference to the viral video of French President Emmanuel Macron getting slapped in the face by his wife, Brigitte Macron.

The Bizarre Brigitte Macron 'Moment of Closeness' Pushing Incident Takes an All-Too Familiar Turn
"I was just horsing around with Lil X, and I said, 'Go ahead, punch me in the face,' and he did," Musk then explained. "Turns out even a five-year-old punching you in the face actually does— "
"I didn't really feel much at the time, but I guess it raises up," he added. "But I was just horsing around."
One of the funniest parts might have been President Trump's reaction when he admitted he hadn't even noticed Musk's black eye.
Friday's press event was to discuss the end of Musk's time leading DOGE. Trump praised Musk for his efforts, shutting down claims from reports like The New York Times, which reported that the two had some kind of falling out.

The NYT report read that:
A New York Times headline from an article dated Wednesday but updated Thursday read, "A Disillusioned Musk, Distanced From Trump, Says He's Exiting Washington." Oh, this must be so bad. I hope they don't get into a fistfight.
The gossiping class also got all atwitter when Musk said he was not 100 percent happy with the "Big Beautiful Bill" that narrowly passed the Republican controlled House and is now headed to the Senate. But let's be real about both topics: A) Musk was always scheduled to leave after 130 days due to his designation as a "special government employee" (SGE), and B) Nobody is 100 percent happy with a massive measure such as the BBB; compromises are inevitably made and sausage-making can be an ugly process to witness.
However, Trump's praise of Musk on Friday made it clear their relationship has been unfazed by Musk's time trying to clean up the waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.
Jennifer Oliver O'Connell wrote that Trump's praise of Musk was effusive. Trump said that:
But Elon's service to America has been without comparison in modern history. He's already been running the most innovative car company in the world. You look at his factories and compare them with some of the old factories that we have, and it's a big difference. And the most successful space company in, I guess history, you would have to say. The largest free speech platform on the internet.
He willingly accepted the outrageous abuse and slander and lies and attacks because he does love our country, I know that very much. He loves our country. He comes from another country, a country that's going through trials and tribulations I would say. But he's all about the U.S.A. and American owes him a great debt of gratitude.
