An elderly man has passed away from injuries he received while counter-protesting a pro-Hamas rally in Israel on Sunday. 

A short video making the rounds of social media shows the man lying on the ground, bleeding as others attempt to help him. He reportedly suffered internal bleeding that ultimately led to his death on Monday. 

Authorities have not confirmed exactly how he received his injuries, though there are unconfirmed reports that he was struck over the head with a megaphone by a pro-Hamas protester. 

According to witnesses at the scene, a verbal altercation broke out between an older Jewish man and a young pro-Palestinian protester. Suddenly, the protester struck the older man in the head with a megaphone he was holding. 

A local rabbi came forward to urge people to wait for all the details, suggesting that it's possible the man wasn't physically attacked. It wasn't immediately clear if he had any inside information or was simply speaking generally in order to calm tensions. 

Police are investigating the situation, and the previously cited news report claims that the alleged attacker filmed the incident. Again, that is not confirmed yet, though.
