I have not written here in over a week because I've been watching what's been going on internationally (and domestically), and it seems the world is going to hell in a handbasket.
It does.
That, of course, is of an international situation, but it could apply locally depending on where your locality may be.
Seems as if the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, is making a bit of a ruckus without actually doing anything. Yet. That, of course, is amazing on several different levels, but because Donald Trump is used to making a splash wherever he goes, it is a bit odd.
From The Hill:
Trump pushes back on report he approved attack plan for Iran
President Trump on Thursday pushed back on reporting that he had given approval for attack plans against Iran as he publicly insists he has yet to decide on a path forward.
The Wall Street Journal reported late Wednesday that Trump had approved of attack plans for Iran but was waiting to give a final order in case Tehran agreed to abandon its nuclear program.
“The Wall Street Journal has No Idea what my thoughts are concerning Iran!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
The president did not dispute the substance of the report, and administration officials said Trump was deliberating his options.
Well, that settles that, then.
Still, Trump doesn't seem as if his mind is convinced of the route that he's supposed to go.
Trump was noncommittal Wednesday morning about a potential strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities: He dodged a question about whether he’s moving closer to ordering a strike against Iranian nuclear facilities.
Which is exactly the right mode to be in.
I know that we feel as if, because we follow the political process more closely than most people do, that we are obliged to have an answer whenever we want one, because we want one NOW. That isn't always going to be the case, though, when it comes to these types of issues, and we may trip over ourselves getting to a story.
Tripping over things to get to a story is never good.
Yet getting a story right is more important than getting a scoop - and getting it wrong. I know that may shock people with somebody such as myself admitting that, but it's true.
Many are all too quick to call for America to rush into battle, minimizing the deaths and injuries to U.S. soldiers that will assuredly result. Such a decision can never be taken hastily or lightly. I'm 100 percent with the Israelis in dealing with this situation, no matter how long it takes. I know that may shock people, and that's fine, being that I'm staying far away from this as humanly possible, but it is true.
President Trump, whether we believe it or not, actually has the world on his shoulders, and it cannot be easy.
He has bragged about the American dream, and here he is in his second term, dealing with a nightmare not made in this country. None of us truly knows what will happen over the next week or so, or even sooner, but we have to understand that this is truly in God's hands and we have to trust that.
Let's hope for the love of God that we are on the right side of this and that no matter what this country does that we always do the right thing.
That would be the proper thing to do.
