Once again, the thing Democrats swore isn't happening is something they don't want anyone looking into, and will wage lawfare in order to keep that information from getting out.
As reported by Libs of TikTok, 20 Democrat-led states are suing the DHS in order to make them stop looking into whether Medicaid dollars have been spent on illegals.
Yet, if you were ask New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, this never happens. Ever.
She told Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna so in a post on X:
Not one federal dollar currently goes to giving undocumented people Medicaid and you know that.
What DOES need to be said is that Republicans are set to kick 17 million Americans off their health insurance.
Even GOP Senators admitted this. And Floridians are going to suffer.
Okay. So it's not happening.
Surely they wouldn't mind if the DHS looked into that, right?
Apparently they do.
As the DHS began looking into the matter last month, 20 Democrat-led states decided to throw up a wall between it and the info. As reported by NPR, doing so invades the privacy of "Medicaid recipients."
Twenty states, led by California, sued the Trump administration Tuesday after federal health officials shared sensitive data about Medicaid recipients with the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees immigration enforcement.
"The Trump Administration has upended longstanding privacy protections with its decision to illegally share sensitive, personal health data with ICE," said California Attorney General Rob Bonta in a statement announcing the lawsuit.
"In doing so, it has created a culture of fear that will lead to fewer people seeking vital emergency medical care," Bonta said.
Funny enough, even NPR admits that illegal immigrants have access to Medicaid:
Top Health and Human Services officials directed the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) to share data with DHS from California, Illinois, Washington and Washington, DC, about millions of their Medicaid recipients, according to the AP's report.
Those jurisdictions allow some low-income immigrants, including some without legal status, who do not qualify for Medicaid to access state-funded health programs.
States routinely must share extensive data about Medicaid enrollees with CMS, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, immigration status and healthcare information — but say that data is supposed to stay confidential.
This was called out by Luna, who called out AOC for the lie:
As Luna notes, it actually is happening.
The "Big Beautiful Bill" will tighten restrictions and effectively remove 1.4 million illegal immigrants off Medicaid noted by Senator Eric Schmitt which is an issue given the fact that several states absolute due use Medicaid to cover adults in the open.
So the thing that Democrats say isn't happening is proudly happening in states, but they don't want the DHS to look into it despite the fact that it's apparently not happening... even though they're openly doing it.
The Democrats are definitely having a normal one.
