OK, bottom line:
Raise your hand if you had "Rahm Emanuel running for president in 2028, much less rescuing the Democrat Party from itself" on your bingo card.
Yep, just as I thought.
But Emanuel, a former congressman, White House chief of staff under Barack Obama, Chicago mayor, and diplomat, is not only teasing a 2028 presidential bid; he's also been very direct about what he thinks Democrats need to do to win national elections again.
Moreover, as reported on Monday by the Wall Street Journal, Emanuel — never shy about his abilities or ambitions — now calls the Democrat Party's brand “toxic,” and “weak and woke” — an obvious nod to culture-war issues, on which he thinks Democrats have become so fixated and that President Trump has successfully used against them.
Here's more, via the WSJ:
While Emanuel is coy about what he wants next for his political career, he appears to be laying the groundwork for a presidential bid. He will be the headliner at a September fish fry for Democrats in Iowa, where the party’s nomination process traditionally started until 2024.
The Democratic presidential field is likely to be crowded. “Voters will be lucky,” Emanuel said. “They’ll have a real debate, one we didn’t have in 2024.”
[...]
“I’m not sure what he’s running for, but he’s running for something,” said former Chicago congressman Luis Gutiérrez, who served with Emanuel in the House. “He has some of the best political instincts of anyone in the Democratic Party.”
Whether Emanuel enters the 2028 presidential contest or not, the ever-brash veteran politician definitely appears to be positioning himself for something:
I’m tired of sitting in the back seat when somebody’s gunning it at 90 miles an hour for a cliff. If you want the country to give you the keys to the car, somebody’s got to be articulating an agenda that’s fighting for America, not just fighting Trump.
The American dream has become unaffordable. It’s inaccessible. And that has to be unacceptable to us. The public’s not wrong. They figured it out. The system’s rigged. It’s corrupt.
The surprising part is — regardless of what one thinks of Emanuel — he's right about the woeful state of today's Democrat Party and even more importantly, how the Democrats intentionally drove their clown car into the ditch of public opinion.

Former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel Might Be Thinking About a Run for the White House
If Emanuel does decide to run, he would likely face other potential 2028 Democrat candidates who are also suggesting party moderation, including California Gov. Hair Gel — er — Gavin Newsom (who is ridiculously trying to pretend he has reinvented himself), and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who has proven herself to be politically astute while also going through her pretend-metamorphosis.
The good news for the Democrat Party is that, while a majority of Democrats and their sock puppets in the media continue their same worn-out tactics against everything Trump-related, some Democrats openly admit their party's self-immolation must come to an end if they are ever to succeed on the national political stage again.
The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject their globalist agenda.
