The death toll from the deadly domestic terrorist attack on an ICE facility in Dallas on September 24 continues to grow as 32-year-old detainee Miguel Ángel García-Hernández has died after being taken off life support.

No officers were shot in the assault, but three detainees were hit, with two now dead. The shooter, Joshua Jahn, also died from a self-inflicted gun wound.

A senior Department of Homeland Security official familiar with the case previously told NBC News that Garcia-Hernandez, who was from Mexico, was among the three detainees shot at the facility.

ICE confirmed on Monday that Norlan Guzmán-Fuente, a 37-year-old from El Salvador who entered the country illegally, also died in the shooting. The senior DHS official identified another victim in the shooting as Jose Andres Bordones-Molina of Venezuela, but did not provide details on the extent of his injuries.

Although he was detained by ICE for what presumably were immigration violations, he didn’t deserve this fate:

“My husband Miguel was a good man, a loving father, and the provider for our family,” García-Hernández’s wife, Stephany Gauffeny, said in a statement provided by LULAC.

Gauffeny added, “We had just bought our first home together, and he worked hard every single day to make sure our children had what they needed. His death is a senseless tragedy that has left our family shattered. I do not know how to explain to our children that their father is gone.”

The couple was expecting a fifth child.

As RedState’s Katie Jerkovich reported, the shooter held a hatred for ICE:

"Among his papers, though, was a handwritten note in which, in crude words, he expressed his hatred for the federal government," Larson said. "Finally, I want to address the heroism of our federal agents yesterday. While under fire, ICE agents and ATF agents who were also present….worked together to remove detainees from the vans and get them to safety while the bullets were flying."

"These agents were heroic, clearly willing to lay down their lives to save the lives of the detainees in their custody," she added. Larson rightly stressed that this is an "extremely important point to make."

She continued: "It's clear from these notes that [Joshua Jahn] was targeting ICE agents...The tragic irony for his evil plot here is that it was a detainee who was killed and two other detainees that [sic] were injured when he fired into the sally port."

As Democrats like California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Minnesota’s Tim Walz continue to spew violent rhetoric against ICE enforcing our laws, the grim result is predictable: more senseless deaths.

Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do everything they can to interfere with and threaten ICE agents enforcing our immigration laws.
