There's a well-known idiom, "Go big or go home." I think, perhaps, President Donald Trump's take on it might best be expressed as "Go big and go home."
Following successful strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities on Saturday evening, Iran "retaliated" on Monday, launching missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. However, reports following the attack indicated that it was largely thwarted and no significant damage was done. A senior White House official confirmed that the attack had been anticipated and that President Trump is not interested in further military engagement in the region.

Now, following a meeting with his National Security Team, the president has affirmed this himself via a series of posts on Truth Social.
The first described the retaliatory attack and the lack of damage done, as well as confirming earlier reports that Iran gave notice of the attack ahead of time, before striking an optimistic note as to what comes next.
Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction. I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
The second thanked the Qataris for their assistance and affirmed that no Qataris were killed or injured in the attack, either.
I’d like to thank the Highly Respected Emir of Qatar for all that he has done in seeking Peace for the Region. Regarding the attack today at the American Base in Qatar, I am pleased to report that, in addition to no Americans being killed or wounded, very importantly, there have also been no Qataris killed or wounded. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Last, but certainly not least, Trump proclaimed where his focus remains:
CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!
That doesn't sound like a warmonger or someone interested in any prolonged military entanglements. It sounds like a leader who's feeling fairly confident that the actions he's taken will lead us in the opposite direction. Obviously, there are no guarantees, particularly not when dealing with the volatile Middle East, but for now, it appears that President Trump is heading to the NATO Summit with a well-deserved feather in his cap.
