Every once in a while, a story comes along that restores one’s faith in humanity, and I think this one, out of California of all places, is one of those examples.

A coffee house in southern California wanted to find a way to honor late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk after he was killed by an assassin’s bullet on the campus of Utah Valley University on September 10, Fox News reported.

The owner of Invita Cafe in Rancho Santa Fe, Sara De Luca, said she didn’t even “think twice” about it when she decided to print stickers to place on each cup of coffee days after he was murdered by the suspected killer, authorities say, who was strongly influenced by leftist ideology.

The message on the sticker was very simple. It read, "Thank you, Charlie Kirk," and "We Love You.”

In response, haters tried to come for the little cafe, blowing up their phone lines, saying that the owner was “horrible and horrific things."

Other people bombarded their online reviews.

"We ended up having to shut down our Google page and Yelp page because we were getting an insane amount of one-star reviews," De Luca said in the Fox News interview.

De Luca, who said she once hosted Kirk and his wife, Erika, said she was shocked to find it was “controversial” to honor him.

"When Israel went to war, we put on Israel stickers and started to support some of the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]. I would say that was when I was like, 'Let's be courageous,'" De Luca stated. “But with Charlie, we had hosted him.”

“We had met him. We've met Erika,” she also noted in the interview. "Maybe it's my ignorance. It didn't even cross my mind that somebody could have some sort of issue with somebody being murdered. We've supported him for many, many years.”

When word in her San Diego community and church got out about what the little cafe was going through, the supporters “showed up” in droves. Suddenly, waiting lines at her little shop were as long as 30 to 45 minutes of people wanting coffee from the shop that didn’t deserve hate for honoring Kirk.

“I was actually tearing [up] because I was like, 'Where did these people come from?'” De Luca went on to say. “We went 312% up in sales. We were flooded with righteous people just showing up, supporting us, defending us. They were defending Charlie. Obviously, we all were."

"We didn't have any haters show up," she added. "It was only the righteous showing up – just God-fearing people who are like, 'Thank you for what you're doing. Charlie would be proud.'"

And De Luca said it wasn’t just those in the community who were giving them business, but people across the nation reached out to show their support.

"We had somebody from Georgia call and say, 'Can I just give you $500 and buy the next 100 drinks?'” De Luca said. “Somebody walked in and left $300 and just walked out."

"God is so behind all of this,” De Luca continued. “This is insane. But I think Charlie would have been proud."

Nine years ago, the Invita Cafe opened its doors, inspired by her Italian family.

"The idea was to kind of create a space where the espresso is the magnet that unites people, and it brings the community together and brings the traditions that I grew up with here to California," the owner told the outlet.

And there’s definitely a lesson here. The owner found out that she was right not to hide her beliefs out of fear. And by being brave, she’s been rewarded more than she could’ve ever imagined.  God is so good.
