NextImg:Clueless: Protesters Target Drug Bust, Thinking It's an ICE Raid

On Wednesday, a massive raid by law enforcement on a house in Arizona uncovered an illegal alien cartel member hiding, along with a pile of drugs and several guns. It would have gone off much more smoothly, except that the raid caught the attention of some local nincompoops who thought an ICE raid was in progress, leading them to start a protest.

Pinal County Sheriff Ross Teeple properly identified the protesters as "idiots."

They should have put this protest on ice.

A massive raid on a suspected cartel member found in Arizona with a huge stockpile of drugs and guns was interrupted by “idiots” who thought it was “an ICE raid,” according to a sheriff.

Investigators had spent around six months investigating the unidentified cartel member, who had crept back into the country despite previously being deported, according to Pinal County Sheriff Ross Teeple.

When they finally raided his home in southwest Tucson late Wednesday, they found millions of fentanyl pills as well as 32 pounds of cocaine, 22 pounds of meth, four guns — and some unexpected opposition.

“Here’s the crazy part — some idiots, thinking it was an ICE raid, came down and protested,” the sheriff said.

It would be one thing if the crowd, when told that ICE wasn't involved, and that the cops were there to bust a dangerous character, a cartel member sitting on a stash of guns and drugs, had just walked away. But that wasn't the case, leading one to believe that the sheriff is correct and there are some seriously sub-par IQs involved in this.

He said that even though the protesters appeared to have assumed the raid was a straightforward immigration matter, they didn’t care when told how serious it was.

“Even when it was explained to them [protesters] that this was a criminal case, where we were taking a criminal drug smuggler, a known felon off the street and keeping the community safe, they still sat there and protested because they don’t have an independent thought,” Teeple told 13 News.

And this is at the heart of a lot of the hatred for law enforcement we've been seeing on the streets of our cities in the last few days.

The mob mentality is in play here. These nitwits don't know the facts in any given case, and they don't care. The "Cops = Bad" idea is driving them, whether the law enforcement is ICE or local cops, whether they are detaining illegal immigrants, who, by the way, are breaking the law, or arresting drug smugglers and gang members.

This can't keep going on. At least this was actually a protest and not a riot, as the "idiots" from the looks of things just stood across the street and shouted, but the situation in too many of our cities has gotten too bad, and this weekend looks like it's shaping up to be a humdinger.

Stay tuned. We're in for a long, hot summer.
