Charlie Kirk's funeral has just gotten underway at a packed State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, but it's already clear that the Kirk family and Turning Point USA are allowing God to use this tragedy for good.
Independent journalist Nick Sortor was at the stadium at 4 am, and reported that "tens of thousands of patriots" were already in line.
The stadium itself was filled to capacity more than an hour before the event started, and the nearby Desert Diamond Stadium was filling up.
Planes filled with mourners headed to Arizona for the service, and on this one passengers sang all of the verses of "Amazing Grace" as the plane landed.
In the week and a half since Charlie was taken from us, tens of thousands of people have testified that their faith has been renewed or that they started attending church again because Charlie's living testimony spoke to their souls. Many of those people also made their way to Arizona, as Scott Adams' friend did.
The text message he screenshot reads, "Yes. I felt a calling after binge watching his movement. I've felt a renewal of my faith too. He was special and in death he's testifying."
Riley Gaines, a TPUSA ambassador whose campus speeches have been targeted by violent leftists, flew out to Arizona on her due date to honor Charlie and support the Kirk family.
Another pregnant woman, my friend Natalie Sauer, traveled from Southern California to be there.
I wonder how many babies will be named after Charlie in the coming months?
TPUSA left placards in the stadium seats with a pencil sketch of Charlie and the verse from Isaiah 6:8, "Here I am Lord, send me."
My friend Tim (a great North Carolinian) and his family, who are traveling the country in an RV this year while homeschooling, made their way to Phoenix for the funeral. They made it in early, and Tim observed that many of the attendees knew all the words to all the worship songs being performed. Wow.
As dark as this time in American history is, it's undeniable that God is working to change hearts and reminding us of the power of Christlike love.
Turning Point Action COO Tyler Bowyer, who's been with Charlie and Turning Point basically since the beginning, said that Charlie wanted to fill a stadium for a Turning Point event, but also had a goal to bring the Holy Spirit to a Trump rally.
You did both, Charlie. Still changing lives from the other side of the veil, and I have a feeling that will be happening for decades to come.
