NextImg:Censured Rep. Al Green Promises Anti-Trump Protesters He Will File Articles of Impeachment Against Trump

Remember during President Trump's speech to the Joint Session of Congress in early March, when Rep. Al Green (D-TX) behaved so badly that House Speaker Mike Johnson had to instruct the Sergeant at Arms to kick Green out of the chamber?

Then, he held court outside the chamber with a gaggle of reporters, who allowed him to spout nonsense about Trump and the Republicans planning to cut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

When one of the journalists asked Rep. Green if that was the only reason he decided to disrupt Pres. Trump's address, the Texas Democrat used it as an excuse to share an astounding non sequitur.

"No, I have other things I'm protesting," he said, "and I'm also working on my articles of impeachment. This president is unfit. He should not hold the office. Thirty-four felony convictions, two times impeached."

As my colleague Bob Hoge wrote the following day (Mar. 6), it was no surprise to anyone when the House swiftly voted to censure Rep. Green.

Well, he was at it again this weekend, this time while addressing the anti-Trump "Hands Off" protest event in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, where he promised the crowd he is set to file articles of impeachment against Pres. Trump, "within the next 30 days."

Wielding his ubiquitous cane, Green urged the protesters to begin chanting, "No third term," which they did. That's when Green's fever dream of a speech kicked into high gear, as he shared his "message" for the president:

I want President Trump to know that I will use my staff of freedom to bring forth, proudly bring forth, a message that should say to him, he may not finish this term.

After repeating the final six words a few times, he rambled on with what he says is the reason why: Those at the rally "are now sowing the seeds" that might return the House to Democrat control, and "impeach him a third time!"

At this point, Green's remarks go completely off the rails--when he compares himself to David in the biblical story of David and Goliath: [emphasis added]

We need a Senate that will convict him this time, and I want you to know, from my heart, from my heart, I understand that he is a Goliath. He is a Goliath. He has control of the generals in the military. He has control of the Justice Department. He has control of the Republican Party, but my friends, my friends, for every Goliath, there is a David.

And I want you to know, Mr. President, this David is going to bring articles of impeachment against you within the next 30 days. Within the next 30 days, I’m bringing articles of impeachment. I’m coming for you. Mr. President, this David is coming for you.

I'm sure that none of the people looking on at the protest event realized that he already made this threat, and not just on the night of Pres. Trump's congressional speech. On Feb. 5, Green became the first Democrat during Trump's nascent second term to state a desire to file articles of impeachment against him. And the times when the congressman filed articles of impeachment against Trump during his first term in the White House likewise, went nowhere. What a clown.

The White House has already responded to this latest threat, via an email to The Hill. Assistant Press Secretary, Liz Huston, said the president's “position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries."

She continued, “Meanwhile, the Democrats’ stance is giving Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits to illegal aliens, which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors.”

It's hard not to notice how the statement completely brushed aside what Green said, which is exactly the level of seriousness anyone should show the nonsensical ramblings of leftists.

President Trump's speech to a joint session of Congress continues to give radical Democrats heartburn, and no amount of playing to the far-left wing of the party will draw Americans back to supporting them.
