NextImg:Cannibal-Gate Escalates After the White House Offers Up Another Excuse for Joe Biden's Bizarre Lie

The White House is still struggling to explain Joe Biden's bizarre lie about his "Uncle Bosie" being eaten by cannibals during World War II.

The claim was first made on an airport tarmac, with the president telling the press that his uncle was shot down in Papa New Guinea in an area where "there were a lot of cannibals." Astonishingly, he then repeated the tale during his speech while adding several more falsehoods.

"Uncle Bosie" was not a pilot and he did not fly "single-engine planes as reconnaissance over war zones." He was a ground crew member who was a passenger on a twin-engine plane that ditched off the coast due to mechanical issues. He was not shot down, and there is no record of him encountering cannibals after the crash. Instead, "Uncle Bosie" drowned in the ocean.

That level of insanity in such a fabricated story is impossible to defend. Karine-Jean Pierre gave it the old college try, though, head-scratchingly claiming that the president lying about his uncle was a "really proud moment for him."

A day later, the excuses have only gotten more ridiculous. On Friday, Fox News' Peter Doocy pressed Jean-Pierre for a real answer. Instead, he got the following.

Wait, is she suggesting that Biden's mention of cannibals two separate times wasn't meant to be taken literally? Or is she saying that the president's telling of the lie was so "emotional" that it represented a symbolic moment? Either way, we are well into the twilight zone on this topic.

I understand that Biden being senile and a habitual liar makes explaining away the crazy things he says difficult, but perhaps it's time to just admit he made the whole thing up. What the White House is attempting to do by stacking lies on top of lies is only making matters worse. This is now a three-day-long story when it didn't have to be. A simple statement that he made a mistake telling a story about a family member would have sufficed.

Instead, we are left with these pathetic and comical attempts to pretend Biden saying what he said somehow meant something else. It's gas-lighting of the highest degree. It's also just stupid. Everyone knows the president's uncle wasn't eaten by cannibals during World War II.
