NextImg:CA Dem Rep Has Such a Hot Take on Anti-ICE Riots, It Even Has CNN's Dana Bash Confused

We've seen a lot of bad takes from the Democrats when it comes to the anti-ICE riots in the Los Angeles area.

There was Mayor Karen Bass' statement which amounted to encouraging bad actions, although she then issued a statement the following day against violence. Then there was California Gov. Gavin Newsom's tantrum about the National Guard being called in.

However, Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-CA) may be fighting for the crown for most delusional take. Barragán represents Paramount, CA, which is part of Los Angeles County, where there was a lot of violence against federal agents on Saturday. Listen to how she tries to spin what happened when CNN's Dana Bash asks her about the violence.

"Don't get violent," she said. Then she claimed the violent people weren't the people "coming out to protest immigration."

That stunned even Bash, "What are the violent people doing?"

She claimed the "people who had peacefully protested had left." "This was the unruly folks, the Saturday night crowd," Barragán insisted. Oh. That's some take for the folks assaulting and trying to block federal vehicles.

But the anti-ICE people were problematic on Friday, damaging and spraying anti-ICE things on the federal detention center in Los Angeles. So they already left their calling card, without even having to talk about Paramount, if she's trying to argue on behalf of the anti-ICE people.

Then in the next breath, even as she acknowledged the violence and the pictures of things like flaming cars played on the CNN scene next to her face, she claimed President Donald Trump was targeting "peaceful protests."

Barragán insisted, "The President is sending the National Guard because he doesn't like the scenes. He doesn't like the scenes of people peacefully protesting." But those weren't scenes of "peaceful protesting."

She even says, "We want to make sure that, you know, that people will continue to speak up, that people show up, but that people are peaceful about the situation."

She posted this on Saturday, where she demonized ICE and their "terror tactics and masked agents":

But attacks like what happened in Paramount are the reasons they wear the masks, because they are going to be targeted, and that's what these violent actions are showing once again.

People on X couldn't believe they were hearing "peaceful" again on CNN.

It's going to be an interesting summer.
