NextImg:Bye, Bye Deep State? NSA General Counsel Is Primed to Be One Of the Russia Hoax Fall Guys

Let's be real: We know that former President Barack Obama or former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will not be going to jail over their role in the RussiaGate Hoax. The same SCOTUS decision that upheld President Donald Trump's presidential immunity on actions performed as the chief executive also applies to Obama, who was the sitting president during that period. However, there will be some high and low-level folks who, if this declassification and investigation into the affair continues, will take the fall.

A Daily Wire exclusive investigation uncovered a Deep State fox embedded in the Trump administration hen house: April Doss was appointed under President Joe Biden and is currently serving as General Counsel for the NSA as an expert in cybersecurity and digital privacy.

The plot thickens.

A top lawyer for President Donald Trump’s National Security Agency previously worked for Senate Democrats on their discredited probe attempting to tie Trump to Russia and has a history of partisan anti-Trump activism, a Daily Wire investigation reveals.

April Falcon Doss is the current general counsel for the NSA, the powerful cyber-intelligence agency, according to the agency’s website. A longtime veteran of the agency, Doss also worked as an NSA intelligence lawyer from 2003 to April 2016. But in between those two stints, she worked on the highly-partisan congressional investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election.

Can you say, "subterfuge," boys and girls? Whoever was pretending to be Biden's brain at that moment managed to embed a far-left Democrat activist into the NSA for a strategic purpose. Doss was appointed in 2022, long before the 2024 election had gotten into full swing, and Biden imploded and was replaced on the ticket by then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Sound of Silence: Comey, Brennan, Obama Mum on Tulsi Gabbard's Criminal Referral to the DOJ

Just months into Trump’s first term as president, she took a high-level job working for Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) on the Senate Intelligence Committee, investigating supposed Russian interference in the 2016 election. Doss was the Democrats’ Senior Counsel for the committee’s Russia investigation, which conducted hundreds of interviews in its failed attempt to find evidence of conspiracy between Trump and Russia.

The Daily Wire’s discovery of Doss’s continuing employment at the top level of the intelligence community comes as newly-revealed documents provide further evidence of unethical conduct by Democrats and the intelligence state aimed at sabotaging Trump. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard submitted a criminal referral over what she called a conspiracy of “manufactured intelligence”, and Trump has said the documents could support the prosecution of people as high up as former President Barack Obama, and his top intelligence chiefs, James Comey and James Clapper.

That was in 2018, when Doss left a high-powered partner and chair position in cybersecurity at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP to become the Senior Minority Council and Sen. Mark Warner's (D-VA) right hand for the Senate Intelligence Committee investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 Election.

DW uncovered Doss' background of Democrat activism, working to use her expertise to undermine and malign the first Trump administration and the individuals involved in the FISA abuse and Carter Page investigations.

Doss is a transparently partisan activist who has written publicly about her opposition to Trump. She has called for Trump to be permanently banned from social media for staging an “insurrection,” attacked Republicans for opposing a crackdown on “disinformation,” and defended the treatment of Trump aides Carter Page and Michael Flynn at the hands of the intelligence state.

In 2018, Doss authored an op-ed that originally appeared in The Atlantic but was syndicated in other conservative-leaning publications like The Weekly Standard and the Washington Examiner. Doss praised the FISA program and criticized then-Rep Rep. Devin Nunes and his Crossfire Hurricane investigation. Soon after its publication, Scott Johnson over at the Powerline Blog exposed Doss' partisan hackery

In the author’s tag to her story Doss describes herself in part as former “senior minority counsel for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.” In relevant part this is the same tag she used to describe herself in the Atlantic version of her piece. Without more, we wouldn’t know whether she served as the Democrats’ or Republicans’ counsel. One has to go to her current law firm bio to determine that she served as Democratic counsel, of course, and that her efforts included (my italics) “all facets of the SSCI investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. elections.” Why so shy?

I think it is indicative of her lack of candor in the crux of her cover story. Doss is dishonest by the omission of relevant factual context in the same manner as she is in her own author’s identification.

After paying tribute to FISA and the FISC, Doss props up Democratic Party talking points on the FISA warrants secured by the FBI And the Department of Justice against Carter Page. Applying her expertise to a reading of the FISA warrant applications on Page, she assures us that everything is in order. All the i’s have been dotted and all the t’s have been crossed. There has been no gambling in Casablanca, so to speak, and there never has been. Rumors to the contrary represent “a crazy conspiracy theory.”

It is noteworthy that before Doss was appointed to the NSA General Counsel role, the position had been empty. Why? Because in President Trump's first term, his appointment of Michael Ellis to the role had stirred up controversy.

The Trump administration appointed Michael Ellis to the job in November 2020, but then-NSA Director Gen. Paul Nakasone placed him on administrative leave the day he saw sworn in, while an investigation into whether Ellis’s hire was appropriate ensued. The investigation ultimately found no wrongdoing, but by that time, Ellis had resigned.

The job remained without a permanent occupant until Doss — after brief stop back at the same private practice — filled it. The general counsel job is considered a “career civil service” position, so she remained in the Trump administration, even as Trump sought to prevent a repeat of his first term, which was derailed by left-wing “deep state” intelligence actors pushing a cyber-conspiracy.

As DNI Tulsi Gabbard declassifies more files surrounding the RussiaGate Hoax, it will be curious to see to what degree Doss' fingerprints are on the intelligence.

Since the publication of this DW exposé, Doss has locked down her X account.

Shocker.
