NextImg:Britain on the Brink: New Poll Shows Staggering Number of Residents Think Country Is in 'Bad State'

We’ve written about many of the problems Britain is experiencing—and the terrible choices their government has made over the years—because it’s a cautionary tale. Many of the policies that have led to its decline, like unfettered immigration from populations that despise the United Kingdom's values, insane censorship, a national health service with endless wait times for an appointment, and a refusal to listen to its residents' desires, are exactly the kind of “utopian” dictates that leftists have been trying to impose on this country for years.

A new poll from YouGov reveals exactly how Britons feel about the state of their kingdom, and the numbers are truly ugly:

Just one per cent of Britons think the country is in a “very good state”, polling by YouGov finds, while an overwhelming majority are much more pessimistic.

A massive 82 per cent of respondents said the UK is in a bad state, and 36 per cent viewing the country as being in a “very bad state”. This number has crept up slightly since the last time this question was asked by the pollster, with 80 per cent saying “bad state” last Spring, just before the UK’s previous general election.

You thought we had it bad under Joe Biden, but this is what could happen if America votes someone of his ilk back to the Oval Office in the future (someone like, say, California socialist Gov. Gavin Newsom):

Even as they're feeling bloody dark about the state of the nation now, their outlook for the future is even cloudier:

Six-in-ten Britons said they think the condition of the country will get slightly or much worse over the next year, up from just four-in-ten last year.

Under one per cent of Britons polled — less than a rounding error — said they anticipate things are likely to get “much better” in 12 months time.

Under one percent think things are going to get better in the near future. That is a truly depressing number.

The UK as we know it may no longer exist in the not-so-distant future, because like many Western countries, its fertility rate has plummeted:

Native Britons are simply not having kids:

The British fertility rate fell to its lowest level on record in 2024 after falling for three straight years as the native public continues to delay or refrain from having children…

The decline in birth rate came despite the actual numbers of births rising last year by 0.6 per cent, with population growth — almost entirely as a result of mass migration — outpacing the number of births.

We should keep our eye on our longtime ally—so we can make sure we don’t become like them: a nation fading further away from its former greatness.
