It's finally happened. In a video released on Wednesday evening, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that negotiators have announced the completion and signing of a much-sought-after rare minerals deal between the United States and Ukraine.
Here's Bessent's post with his video on X:
In the video, Bessent thanks not only President Trump, but the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, which helped to pull together the deal, known officially as the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund.
He writes in the X post with the video:
Thanks to @POTUS @realDonaldTrump’s tireless efforts to secure a lasting peace, I am glad to announce the signing of today’s historic economic partnership agreement between the United States and Ukraine establishing the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund to help accelerate Ukraine’s economic recovery. Economic security is national security.
"@DFCgov will work closely with the Government of Ukraine to establish this fund," he continues, "and we look forward to quickly operationalizing this historic economic partnership for both the Ukrainian and American people."
This is a breaking story. RedState will provide updated information as it becomes available.
