The press conference regarding Wednesday morning's shooting at a Dallas ICE Detention facility, which left two dead, including the shooter, began with remarks from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson. The announced press conference was held so that Johnson could be a part of it, and his words set the tone. Johnson asked that Americans please,

Join us in praying for the families of the folks who lost their lives today. Pray for the speedy recovery of those who are hurt or injured in what happened today. But maybe even more to the point, we're a country and a city that needs prayer. So I'm going to ask you all to join me also in praying for this city that we can come together at a time like this. And that we can be there for one another the way we always have in times like this. To support one another, help us all get through this very difficult time. Not just in our city, but in our country. And that's why I ask you to pray for our nation.

Johnson thanked the Dallas Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff, Federal Law enforcement, and all who "acted quickly today to make sure that today's tragedy wasn't worse than what it was."

Police Chief Daniel Como took the podium and updated on the scope of the attack. Como confirmed that four individuals were shot, two deceased, including the shooter. Como stated that the Dallas Police Department would be working the investigation, "shoulder-to-shoulder with our federal partners, the FBI is on scene," then Como introduced Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas FBI Joe Rothrock.

Rothrock gave his thanks to the partners in law enforcement for their "quick and timely response." Rothrock confirmed that the FBI is investigating the incident "as an act of targeted violence. It is, unfortunately, just the most recent example we've seen of targeted violence. To include here in North Texas, where back on July 4, we saw a coordinated attack carried out against an immigration detention center in El Varedo, TX. What I can also share with you is that early evidence that we've seen from rounds found near the suspected shooter, container messages that are anti-ICE in nature."

Rothrock affirmed that the investigation would be a "whole of government response, there will be no resource not utilized to bring all those individuals who are responsible to bring them to justice and to hold them accountable." Rothrock said that they would not be releasing the identity of any victims at the time, but he confirmed that no members of law enforcement were harmed during the attack.

Rothrock requested the public's help by contacting 1-800-CALL FBI.

Joshua Johnson, Acting Field Officer Director from ICE Dallas, offered his thanks and made minimal remarks, first noting that this was the second time he has had to stand before the press concerning an incident at his ICE detention facilities. "The takeaway from all of this is the rhetoric has to stop, Johnson said. "It is dangerous, and people are losing their lives."
