One of the key (and most hotly contested) races of Tuesday's primaries was the GOP Senate primary in Ohio. It looked to be a close call in a three-way race between former car dealership owner Bernie Moreno, state Senator Matt Dolan, and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Once the polls closed in Ohio, Moreno and Dolan were neck and neck for a stretch, but now, with 26 percent of the vote counted, DecisionDeskHQ is projecting Moreno to win the nomination and the chance to face off against incumbent Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown.

Moreno had the benefit of receiving former President Donald Trump's endorsement in the race, as well as that of Senator J.D. Vance.

Trump-backed candidate Bernie Moreno will win the Republican nomination for Senate in Ohio to face off against incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) this November, Decision Desk HQ has projected.

Moreno, a former car dealership owner and the father-in-law of Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio), defeated state Sen. Matt Dolan (R) and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) in a messy primary that intensified in the closing days of the campaign.

Moreno will have his work cut out for him, taking on Brown, but given Ohio's leanings of late, it's possible. The current RCP polling average gives the advantage to Brown by five points. This will be one to watch heading into November.
