It's safe to say that the Democrat governors who attended Thursday's House Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary state governors and their policies did not have a good day.
Three of them were on hand: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker.
Walz, the failed 2024 Democrat vice presidential nominee, got his clock cleaned by GOP Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a fellow Minnesotan, who - as we reported - dropped receipt after receipt on Walz, who tried to gloss over his role in sanctuary policies in the North Star State, something Emmer didn't let him get away with.
Then there was Hochul, for whom there was nowhere to run and hide as Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) laid into her by listing off a number of violent crimes that happened in the Empire State on her watch, allegedly committed by criminal illegal immigrants, some of which happened after ICE's orders to detain the alleged perps were rejected because of the state's sanctuary policies.

Pritzker, too, felt the heat, coming in hot from Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), who flat-out leveled the prospective 2028 presidential candidate by asking him questions about US Codes related to illegal immigration and Supreme Court cases like Arizona v. United States (which dealt with federal authority on immigration enforcement) that Pritzker couldn't answer.
Pritzker even bizarrely claimed he knew nothing about the Trump administration's lawsuit against Illinois, something that didn't square with the facts.
Biggs let him have it, leaving Pritzker speechless and letting him (and Walz and Hochul) know that they are "committing a federal crime" every time they try to thwart the feds when it comes to enforcement of illegal immigration laws:
Simply put, Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue. They were in 2024 when they lost control of the Senate and President Trump won a second term, and they're on the wrong side of it now, even after all the mud flung at Trump and the GOP over arrests and deportations like Kilmar Abrego Garcia and all the rest, and even after all the demagoguing about immigration sweeps.
They keep thinking they're "winning" on this, but they're not, and if they keep it up, they could be on the receiving end of a pretty historic midterms drubbing.
