A shocking story is emerging out of Fairfax County, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., alleging that a social worker employed at a public high school arranged for two minor girls to get abortions without parental consent. Even worse, it's alleged that the principal not only knew about the abortions, but approved funds to cover the costs of the procedures. And those funds may have come from county taxpayers.
The story has been blowing up on social media the past few days after an independent journalist posted to his Substack that a social worker at Centreville High School, a public school in Fairfax County, stands accused of arranging for two 17-year-old girls students at the school to get abortions. Horrifyingly, the parents of the girls were not notified; one girl apparently went through with her abortion, but another fled the abortion mill before the procedure began.
Now, the local ABC affiliate in the D.C. area has picked up and run with the story.
The details are very disturbing. If the allegations are proven to be true, it amounts to a breathtaking betrayal by public servants of students, parents, and taxpayers. Here's the original reporting (emphasis is the author's):
Two female students—both minors—say school officials arranged and bankrolled abortions at Fairfax Healthcare Center without so much as a phone call to their parents, a direct break with Virginia’s parental-notification law. One girl underwent the procedure at 17; the other, five months pregnant and pleading to keep her baby, bolted from the clinic after social worker Carolina Díaz allegedly told her she “had no choice.” Principal Chad Lehman, the girls insist, knew—and taxpayers footed the bill.
When pushed by the ABC affiliate, Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) officials confirmed that an internal investigation is being launched, an indication that there is some merit to the allegations. In a statement, FCPS said, "We learned yesterday of these concerning allegations from 2021. We are launching an immediate and comprehensive investigation as we take all concerns of student wellbeing very seriously."

The evidence presented in the original reporting is compelling, with one of the victims even providing a written statement affirming that the social worker in question did indeed arrange and pay for her abortion. The victim, who affirmed she was a minor at the time of the incident, wrote that the woman "scheduled the appointment for me at the abortion clinic in Fairfax, paid the costs of the medical procedure, and kept everything quiet without informing my family."
It is alleged that the abortions were "greenlighted" by the principal at Centreville High School, who also may have appropriated school funds to cover the costs. In all likelihood, those funds would have come from taxpayer money, thus potentially catapulting these incidents into the realm of criminality.
With an important governors race taking place this year in Virginia, the story of possible misdeeds in one of the commonwealth's most populous counties should be front and center. Republican Winsome-Earle Sears has yet to comment on the allegations, but we're pretty confident where Democrat Abigail Spanberger stands:
Incidentally, FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid will soon have four personal bodyguards that will be providing her with 24-hour protection. No reason was given for the need for this level of security—other superintendents managed to do without it—but one can assume that Mrs. Reid is in part looking to shield herself from having to answer hard questions.
