The Trump Cabinet Secretaries have all acquitted themselves well during their appearances before Congress. 

The Democrats, in response, not so much. 

We saw Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) screaming at Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and then getting testy with the Department of Defense X account, accusing them of lying about the screaming. Then there was Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA), who chastised the Treasury Secretary, insisting he was talking over her and acting like it was because she was a woman. That got quite the reaction of disbelief from those in attendance.

Rep. Sanchez Accuses Sec. Bessent of Being Sexist - the Reaction Tells You How Pathetic This Was

But the Democrats seemed to have a thing for Bessent on Wednesday when he appeared before the House Ways and Means Committee. It's funny when I was covering the Sanchez encounter, I thought, well, I have to check what happened with Stacey Plaskett, the delegate from the Virgin Islands, and that was some encounter with a crazy aftermath. 

Bessent politely tells her she's incorrect. Listen as Plaskett tries to scold him like he's a child. This isn't the way you're supposed to be responding to a Cabinet secretary. 

"When you come to someone's house, you respect their rules.  And in this house, we don't interrupt individuals. And you're not going to interrupt my time," she railed.

Bessent is funny; he has sort of a quiet competence and humor. He looks a bit like a math professor. When they come at him, he smiles, is polite, and sometimes cleans his glasses as he does here, saying he looks forward to responding to her questions with "Look forward to the facts." With that one line, he finishes off her whole rant. 

But he had a little more, in the aftermath, and it was perfect. 

"This is not my house — nor is it Stacey Plaskett's. This is the People's House. And the people deserve to hear the facts," Bessent wrote. Now that is an epic response. He gets what's important here — what's supposed to come out for the American people: the facts. 

This picture said it all. 

Then came the truly crazy part. Plaskett responded to a random person's comment about the exchange. The person used a bad word that means female genitalia. But then, Plaskett responded with what has to be the wildest language from someone in Congress. I'm not even going to embed the tweet; you can read it here because I have to redact the language. But here's what she said, repeating the bad word and adding more expressions referring to female genitalia, so a warning for that: 

Excuse you!! This t---, c---, p-- p-- whatever you want to call it represents an organ that gives LIFE and is resilienr  so thanks for the compliment. I can take one interruption but Bessent was out of control. And…. I know I look good for my age but baby I’m post menopausal and it still works  

As of Thursday morning, it was still up on her account. I don't know what she was thinking. This is where Democrats have gone at his point. They truly are off the rails. 

I think it's safe to say she will win Wildest Democrat Tweet for the week.
