We’ve seen plenty of cringe campaign ads during the 2024 campaign season and continuing on into 2025.

On Wednesday, disgraced Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who lost a Democrat primary battle to wild-eyed democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani in June but refuses to slip away into the night gracefully, released a spot of his own on Instagram Tuesday that would have even Joe Biden pulling out his trademark phrase, “c’mon man.”

The man formerly dubbed the “Love Gov” during the COVID era because of his bizarre giggling appearances on CNN and his cheery press briefings as people suffered, apparently just happened to be in the perfect spot to help out some guy whose car wouldn’t start. It was portrayed as just one of those natural Big Apple moments—although despite having lived there for years, I never saw anything like it—and trust me, the cabbies would have been honking their behinds off.

But before we get to the videotape, here’s Cuomo’s message:

New Yorkers, start your engines…

Together, we can fix this city!

We can be there for each other

We help

We do

And we will — together

Ok... Whatever any of that means. 

And now cue up the 1970s TV detective music, because here comes Andrew the Hero:

Seriously, what’s with the hero-style music—he’s freaking jump-starting a car, not forcibly stopping any of the many criminals roaming the streets of the City that Never Sleeps.

After the election loss, Cuomo declared that he is running as an independent, meaning the anti-Mamdani vote could be split three ways come November between incumbent Mayor Eric Adams—who ditched the Democrats in April and also became an independent—and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

At least one but probably two of these candidates needs to drop out if Mamdani is to be stopped from his stated desire to radically transform New York City into some sort of socialist utopia. That, as we know, inevitably ends extremely badly.

As you’d expected with such a lame video, the internet was quick to mock. One user said the former governor could have started a fire:

But car-savvy observers quickly latched onto the way Cuomo attached the jumper cables, saying he could have started a fire if the video was really authentic.

“You connect the negative of the jump car to the chassis of the dead car, not the battery terminal, otherwise you could cause a fire,” X user TheHitPoncho wrote, adding, “More evidence that Cuomo is dangerous for New Yorkers.”

So “authentic,” Andrew:

The reality is, Andrew Cuomo already lost a vote for NYC mayor. By sticking around, he’s just nurturing his own ego and playing spoiler. The problem is, the thing that could get truly spoiled is The City itself.

It’s time to give it up, Mr. Cuomo.
