NextImg:American Eagle Does the Unthinkable in Response to Sydney Sweeney Ad Campaign Freak-Out

In perhaps the dumbest story of 2025, and that's saying something, clothing brand American Eagle and Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney have been embroiled in a scandal over the release of a new jeans ad campaign. In it, the catchphrase "Sydney Sweeney has good jeans" is used, which sent the far left into a state of apoplectic rage.

Why? Because they believe it's a nazi, fascist, white supremacist dog whistle, given that the actress has blonde hair and blue eyes. Even the press got in on the action, producing hilariously dumb headlines like this.

Yes, a pun about jeans and Sydney Sweeney somehow sparked a "debate about eugenics" because everything must be stupid at all times. There is simply no limit to how committed the left is to intersectional politics, and if that means taking the wrong side of yet another 80/20 issue, they are happy to do it. Meanwhile, normal people, especially male voters whom Democrats claim to want to appeal to, are left dumbfounded.

With the background out of the way, the next question was always going to be how American Eagle handled this situation. Typically, when any kind of outrage emanates from the far left, corporations are quick to bend the knee, releasing some half-baked apology. Shockingly, that didn't happen here. Instead, American Eagle delivered a far more succinct message to the haters: Pound sand.

I'm not sure enough people will appreciate how unlikely that statement would have been just a few years ago. Wokeism had so thoroughly inundated corporate America that it would have been unthinkable to tell the left to go jump in a lake. Instead, we would have gotten a statement that went something like, "We apologize for how this ad campaign could have been misconstrued, and we will strive to be better next time."

There's none of that here, though. American Eagle makes it clear that they are standing behind their ad campaign, including the "great jeans" phrasing, and backing Sweeney's inclusion in it. It's a new world out there, and it seems like companies are learning that it's far smarter and financially safer to just be normal. That being so surprising is evidence of just how far down the rabbit hole American society went over the last decade or so, and it's refreshing to see some of that being reversed.

As for Democrats and their radical base, they really did themselves no favors regarding this situation. Sweeney is just about the least controversial figure in the entertainment industry. She doesn't take public political positions, and she knows exactly how to play the game in a very old-school Hollywood way. To attack her as a nazi only further reveals the reality that the left-wing is full of crazy people who have no business anywhere near power.
