A local ABC News affiliate in Los Angeles raised eyebrows when one of their anchors described rioters as "just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn."
It's the 'Mostly Peaceful Protester 2.0.'
The 'Fiery but Mostly Peaceful Protest' on steroids.
I'm not sure what kind of mental exercises one has to go through to develop the ability to perform verbal gymnastics at this level, but this ABC reporter would surely take gold in the Olympics.
As Redstate's Nick Arama reported on Sunday, pro-illegal immigrant rioters have been calling in Waymos - self-driving vehicles - just to set them on fire.
The ABC 7 news anchor, while watching these vehicles burn in the background, voiced his concerns about law enforcement stepping in and whether it might escalate the situation. You know, beyond all the criminal activity taking place.
"There's a large group of people - it could turn very volatile if you move law enforcement in there in the wrong way, and turn what is just a bunch of people having fun watching cars burn into a massive confrontation and altercation between officers," he said.

"A bunch of people having fun watching cars burn" is a bizarre way to pronounce 'criminal arsonists' or 'violent criminals' or 'thugs.'
I mean, I come from the sticks, and I don't ever recall anybody on a weekend saying, 'Hey fellas, who wants to throw back a few beers and have fun watching cars burn?'
Nobody in the history of the world has ever said this.
It's astonishing that so many members of the media, whether on the local or national level, are willing to twist themselves into pretzels in trying to develop some way of portraying these horrible people, these dregs of society, as normal individuals worthy of our acceptance.
Twenty minutes before this anchor described the arsonists as he did, one of the Waymo vehicles exploded on camera. I'm half-surprised he didn't describe the rioters as "a bunch of people having fun watching cars explode" instead.
Whatever. This ABC 7 anchor is clearly drawing inspiration from the larger legacy media networks during their coverage of the 2020 race riots. Here's a CNN chyron from that not-so-long-ago time reading “FIERY BUT MOSTLY PEACEFUL PROTESTS AFTER POLICE SHOOTING" as their reporter is live on the scene in front of raging fires in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
And who could forget MSNBC reporter Ali Veshi trying to tell viewers that protests in Minneapolis were "not, generally speaking, unruly" as he stood in front of burning buildings.
The tally from these people simply watching fires involves dozens of buildings reporting damage, five Waymo vehicles set on fire, multiple buildings (including LAPD Headquarters and U.S. Courthouse) vandalized with graffiti, one store's and the police headquarters windows shattered by looters, and law enforcement having to deal with rocks and molotov cocktails being thrown.
But hey, at least they're having fun.
Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
