ABC News anchor Kyra Phillips shut down the Democrat talking point about crime in D.C. being low with a shocking comment about how much crime she and other staff around the D.C. news bureau have experienced. And she's not alone.
In a clip shared on Monday by the Official Rapid Response account of the Trump 47 White House, Phillips said that alleged crime stats being pushed by the Metropolitan PD don't match the lived reality, revealing several different incidents around the bureau.
"We've been talking so much about the numbers and yeah, usually that's how you play devil's advocate, is you talk about, 'Oh, well stats say crime is down,'" the anchor said. "However, I can tell you firsthand here in downtown D.C., where we work right here around our bureau, just in the past six months, you know, there were two people shot."

"One person died literally two blocks down here from the bureau," she added. "It was within the last two years that I actually was jumped walking just two blocks down from here. And then just this morning, one of my coworkers said her car was stolen a block away from the bureau. So we can talk about the numbers going down, but crime is happening every single day because we're all experiencing it firsthand while working and living down here."
In addition to Phillips' comments, the stats from MPD aren't exactly what they claim, which my RedState colleague Bonchie reported about.
In a report published in July, it was revealed that a D.C. police commander was recently suspended for falsifying data to improve the city's crime statistics.
The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief, and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint.

Need more proof that crime is rampant in the nation's Capital? We did a generic search on X using the terms D.C. crime and found other examples of reporters or people who work in journalism who have been the victims of crime in D.C.
The Daily Wire's Editor-in-Chief Brent Scher wrote on X that "My car was regularly broken into in Cap Hill, in a private parking spot behind my condo. The neighborhood guidance was to leave your car unlocked so they didn't break your windows. When my brother got robbed in the street, the police basically laughed at us when we called them."
Homeland Security reporter for the Washington Examiner, Anna Giaritelli, wrote, "For people who say they don't know a D.C. crime victim...Hi, I'm Anna. In 2020, I was attacked while walking to the post office, blocks from the Capitol. A homeless man lunged at me and assaulted me. I survived, but that day changed my life."
"I fled DC as I waited for the US Attorney's office to prosecute," she added. "It took two years before my assailant went to federal prison for what he did to me that day. But my life is forever changed. My career, my home, is lost. I can't go back there. I'm writing a book about what happened to me and this week will be penning an op-ed about my experience in D.C."
Fox News Senior National Correspondent Anchor Kevin Corke continued, "As the victim of an armed carjacking in D.C., to say nothing of numerous other property crimes, I can tell you firsthand, this is no way to live. #cleanupdc."
On Monday, President Donald Trump announced the federalization of law enforcement in the nation's Capital due to out-of-control crime.
During Monday's White House press briefing, another reporter revealed to Trump that his actions on crime were a personal one to him after he'd been robbed at gunpoint, as RedState reported.
"Last year I was robbed on the street [In DC] by one of these teenage thugs," the reporter explained to Trump and Pirro. "Had a gun. He got away with it. Let's talk about the effort that between law enforcement, prosecutors in D.C., and judges because these kids don't fear the police."
"Talk about how we've got to get these judges and put these kids behind bars," he added. "Adult crimes deserve adult penalties."
Following the announcement, the D.C. Police Union showed its support for Trump as well. Union Chairman Gregg Pemberton said that immediate action was needed to turn things around, as RedState reported.
Editor's Note: The days of lawlessness in Washington, D.C. are over. Thanks to President Trump, our nation's capital will be SAFE once again.
