Whether you fully agreed with Charlie Kirk or not, there is no mistaking the change in the country. You can practically physically feel it. People who may have previously been afraid to speak up and say who they are and what they think are afraid no longer. It's exactly the thing that Charlie would have wanted, whether he agreed with them or not. However, not everyone is pleased that Americans are exercising their First Amendment rights with newfound vigor. And a new poll shows that conservatives and Republicans could be entering a scary time to stand up and say what they think.
A recent Economist/YouGov survey showed that a sobering nine in 10 Republicans are concerned about left-wing extremism. The poll was taken after the assassination of Kirk from September 12 through the 15, and surveyed 1,567 U.S. adults. The survey asked, “How concerned are you about left-wing extremism in the U.S.?” Of the total number of people surveyed, 61 percent said they were "very," or "somewhat concerned," 56 percent of independents expressed concern, and even 38 percent of Democrats said they were somewhat concerned.

The survey asked the same question about right-wing extremism, and it seems that, at least for now, the media twisting themselves into pretzels trying to convince Americans that Republicans are the violent ones is working. Of those surveyed, 69 percent said they were concerned, with, not surprisingly, 88 percent of Democrats saying they were concerned, 57 percent of independents agreeing, and 34 percent of Republicans. Those surveyed were also asked where they thought the majority of political violence came from. Not good news for the left: 33 percent said that they thought it came from the left, 29 percent said it came from the right and - the media strikes again - 24 percent gave the old "both sides" engage in it "equally" line.
Final attendance totals for Kirk's memorial service on Sunday were estimated by law enforcement to be 90,000 to 100,000 people both inside and outside of State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. For those who were in attendance and watching at home, it has given the conservative movement a new burst of energy and enthusiasm, especially for young people. But also, what it absolutely should do is serve as a warning to those same Republicans and conservatives that Kirk's memorial has emboldened the left as well, and they are not going to stop.
Since Kirk's death alone, there have been instances of vigils being disrupted by the left; one in Massachusetts was disrupted by individuals associated with Antifa, who President Trump recently declared a terrorist organization. Another vigil was disrupted in Florida. On Friday, after the suspension by Disney of Jimmy Kimmel, someone shot into a Sacramento, California, ABC affiliate TV station. On Saturday, a man was shot and killed at a New Hampshire country club, and several witnesses said they heard the shooter yell "Free Palestine." In one of the most outrageous examples that the left is not going anywhere, my colleague Teri Christoph reported on Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, whose office approved a vanity license plate reading "86TRMP." Not hard to figure out what that means.

The left is now like a wounded animal. They are scared, and they are angry beyond all comprehension. They know they are now losing the culture war, and more and more Americans, again, especially young people, are no longer buying into their ridiculous ideas. They also know it means that the 2026 and 2028 elections could spell disaster for them, and relegate them to being a rag-tag bunch of fringe kooks with no influence or power except in liberal enclaves like New York City, should communist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani get elected.

Republicans and conservatives should absolutely be encouraged by the response from the nation in the wake of such a horrible tragedy. But make no mistake, the left is ready to take it to the next dangerous level.
