New: On Thursday, a number of people were killed in an attack on a church in Africa. The first reports were that the victims included 15 men, 19 women, and nine children killed. An unknown number of children were abducted by the attackers. Fox News initially issued a report:
This initial report stated in part:
Sandra Smith: More than 40 worshippers killed in an attack on a church in Africa. An ISIS-linked group has claimed responsibility for this, and a witness has now come forward and spoken to Fox. Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent Greg Palkot has this horrifying story for us. So, Greg, what exactly did the witness say?
Greg Palkot: Sandra, it was an unbelievable massacre, in the words of the eyewitness to Fox, we don't understand why this is all happening. Some 43 people killed in cold blood by machete and gun-wielding rebels of the Islamic State-affiliated ADF outfit at a prayer vigil, in a small town on the eastern border of Congo. Buildings there were also torched. They ugly toll included 15 men, 19 women, and nine children, their bodies found strewn around the area. Other children were abducted. The eyewitness added to Fox News Digital, they killed those who met in the church hall, those who tried to flee were caught and killed in the compound and running towards the road.
Fox News has now updated the story:
Dramatic testimony has been revealed exclusively to Fox News Digital, giving new details from the scene of the horrific massacre Sunday by Jihadists allied to the Islamic State of at least 49 Christians worshiping in a church in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Nine of those who were decapitated were children. Several other children, the number isn’t clear, were abducted. The attackers were members of the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a sanctioned rebel group with roots in Uganda.
With the assistance of Open Doors UK, Fox News Digital reached a local church partner of the organization in the DRC, who rushed to witness the scene of the attack, in the village of Komanda, just hours after it took place. Open Doors is a global Christian charity which supports and speaks up for Christians persecuted for their faith.
This kind of thing is incomprehensible to civilized people. It should be incomprehensible to us. This was a group of people who were not harming anyone, were not planning harm to anyone, who never, ever would have planned or caused harm to anyone; probably as inoffensive a group of people as you're likely to find in that part of the world. They were there to celebrate an anniversary of their church:
Fox News Digital has learned worshipers had come from surrounding villages to celebrate the church’s Silver Jubilee in prayer and to pray for "the security situation" – to pray for peace.
"Attackers came in" she said, "and they beheaded Christians in the church." The jihadis "killed those they met in the church hall. Those who tried to flee, they caught them and killed them in the compound. And then some others who managed to run towards the road, those also were caught and killed. All of them were killed with machetes. Most of those Christians who were killed, were Catholics."
We, as Americans, should note that the previous administration was allowing people like these attackers into the United States.
