President Joe Biden has nominated Gen. David Allvin to be the next chief of staff of the Air Force.

If confirmed, Allvin would succeed Gen. C.Q. Brown, who is Biden’s pick to be the next chair of the Joint Chiefs.

Allvin’s nomination was submitted on Tuesday, according to a Senate notice, though it has not yet been publicly announced. Allvin is now the Air Force’s second ranking officer.

Brown, Allvin and other top officers, however, could be caught in Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s blockade of military promotions over the Pentagon’s abortion travel policy.
