Brian "Potato Head" Stelter asked Trump’s Federal Trade Commission chairman for a comment after Jimmy Kimmel was suspended from ABC News for lying about Charlie Kirk. He received a celebratory meme in response.
Jimmy Kimmel outraged many Americans by lying about Charlie Kirk’s accused killer and making a vicious and immature joke about Donald Trump’s reactions to the heartbreaking assassination. After FCC chairman Brendan Carr investigated, and countless Americans expressed disgust, ABC affiliate network Nexstar Media Group announced it would be pulling Kimmel‘s show, and ABC’s owner, Disney, decided to suspend Kimmel, too.
And just like that, Brendan Carr served up roasted potatoes. From CNN’s Brian Stelter:
More seriously and less satirically, Carr released a statement praising Nexstar’s decision. “I want to thank Nexstar for doing the right thing. Local broadcasters have an obligation to serve the public interest,” he wrote. “While this may be an unprecedented decision, it is important for broadcasters to push back on Disney programming that they determine falls short of community values. I hope that other broadcasters follow Nexstar’s lead.”

Kirk's accused shooter, Tyler Robinson, was in a romantic relationship with his transgender roommate, and his family and a friend confirmed that he was a leftist. But Kimmel was so bent on blaming Trump supporters for the assassination that he lied, “We hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Kimmel then followed up by jeering at Donald Trump for his reactions to the assassination of Kirk, including his order to fly flags at half-staff. “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish, okay?” Kimmel grinned.
Of course, Kimmel has been a humorless liar for years, as Kirk himself highlighted:
Media Research Center’s Dan Schneider explained why Kimmel’s suspension isn’t an attack on free speech: “Just like NPR was REQUIRED by statute to ensure "strict adherence in objectivity and balance" in exchange for taxpayer subsidies, broadcasters are REQUIRED to serve all the public (not just a sliver of radicals) in exchange for their massive subsidies (free use of our airwaves). The left used to love to say that no man is above the law. Subsidized media outlets are not either.”
As of last year, ratings for Kimmel’s show had dropped almost as much as his integrity. He is a radical leftist propagandist masquerading as a comedian and show host. Gone are the days of Johnny Carson, when a late-night show host could be left-leaning but keep his politics out of the way of his comedy and professionalism. That most certainly does not describe Jimmy Kimmel.
