A shooting at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Grand Blanc Township, Mich., on Sunday morning left “multiple” people injured, the police said, adding that the church was on fire as the authorities responded.

The police in Grand Blanc Township, about seven miles southeast of Flint, said on social media that the shooter was “down” and that there was no ongoing threat to the public. The nature and extent of the injuries at the church, which has a 10 a.m. Sunday service, were not immediately clear.

Videos circulating on social media showed smoke billowing above the tree line near the site of the church.
