Emory University said late on Friday afternoon that there was an active shooter at a CVS store at the campus in Atlanta.

The university advised people to shelter in place and avoid the area near Emory Point, an apartment complex across from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Atlanta Police Department said in a statement that it was investigating and that it was still gathering information.

No information was immediately available about shots fired or casualties.

“We are locked down and everyone has moved to the interior,” Todd Ginsberg, an owner of the General Muir deli, which is nearby, said in a text message on Friday.
