In the summer, there were two major questions for St. John’s:

Could the Johnnies make the requisite number of shots from the perimeter? And would they get enough production out of their big men?

At the time, there was some thought that Vince Iwuchukwu could push Zuby Ejiofor to be the starting center. The 7-foot-1 USC transfer has the size, length and raw talent to excel at the position.

That notion feels like a lifetime ago. Ejiofor won the job during offseason workouts, and has taken such a big leap forward, he will likely be named the Big East’s Most Improved Player on Monday.
