Zach Wilson had plenty to celebrate on Sunday.
The Jets quarterback reveled in the team’s revenge win over the Broncos on Sunday with his family.
Wilson enjoyed a “family pow wow” before heading back to the East Coast, as seen in family celebration pictures posted on Instagram by his mother, Lisa.
His dad and siblings were also in attendance.
Wilson’s performance this season has been scrutinized by fans and by the media after he had to replace the injured Aaron Rodgers.
On Sunday, the second overall pick in 2021 NFL Draft did exactly what was asked of him.
Although encountering little success in the red zone, Wilson completed 19 of 26 passes for 199 yards and one interception against the Broncos.
Despite failing to toss a touchdown pass, Wilson led an offense that racked up 407 total yards.
That allowed offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to enjoy a day of sweet revenge.
Hackett, who was previously the Broncos’ head coach, was called out in training camp by Sean Payton, the Broncos’ new coach.
Payton told USA Today that Hackett’s coaching of the 2022 Broncos was “one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.”
The Jets made it their mission to not only grab the win to break a three-game losing streak, but also to prove that Hackett’s coaching has been more than successful in New York.
“Even if he wasn’t telling us, ‘This is personal to me,’ you could just look how he carried himself all week, you know what I mean?” cornerback Sauce Gardner said. “He had that look on his face, like, man, he really wanted this game. So, it meant a lot to get a win for him.”
