Zach Johnson turned back time for a day.
Johnson, who last won a major championship in 2015, enjoyed a throwback third round Saturday at the Masters.
He shot 6-under to get to 4-under through 54 holes and climb up to tied for 10th place overall as he walked off the 18th green.
The 49-year-old Johnson won the Masters in 2007 for the first of his two career major championships (2015 British Open).
His winning score of 1-over that cold and windy weekend is part of a three-way tie for the highest mark by a champion at Augusta National dating to 1934.
Johnson got on a roll Saturday that included an eagle on the second hole and six birdies in an eight-hole span right before his bogey on 17.
Johnson shot 72 and 74 over the first two rounds, respectively, to make the cut on the number before cleaning up with a 66 on Saturday playing alongside Jon Rahm.
How unlikely was Johnson pushing his way up the leaderboard?
The 12-time PGA champion entered the Masters tied for the 84th best odds to win, according to BetMGM.
Saturday’s 66 was Johnson’s best-ever single-round score at Augusta in 21 appearances, including the four rounds which brought him a green jacket.
The 2023 Ryder Cup captain topped Rahm by four shots.
