NextImg:Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White Learned The SAG Strike Ended While Walking ‘The Iron Claw’ Red Carpet: “That’s Amazing!”

The Screen Actors Guild finally reached an agreement with the studios Wednesday (Nov. 8), marking the end of the strike that put Hollywood on hold for 118 days.

Actors Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson were walking the red carpet at the premiere for their new A24 drama, The Iron Claw, when they heard the surprising news.

Efron — who stars alongside White and Dickinson as the Von Erich brothers, who made history as professional wrestlers before tragedy struck their family — said he felt “incredible” after learning SAG-AFTRA finally got its deal.

“I’m so happy we were all able to come to an agreement. Let’s get back to work. Let’s go,” he told Deadline on the red carpet. “Congrats, everybody — we did it.”

White had a similar reaction after learning the news from Entertainment Tonight.

“That’s amazing!” he said. “I don’t know the details of the deal but I’m sure that SAG got what they wanted. And I’m so happy [for] our crews.”

A24 already received an interim agreement with the union, allowing its stars to promote the film before a formal agreement was reached.

Dickinson, on the other hand, thought the reporter was “joking” when he was told the SAG strike had ended just minutes before.

The guild’s negotiating committee unanimously voted to recommend the AMPTP’s deal to the SAG-AFTRA board.

Though the deal has not been ratified yet, the SAG-AFTRA strike is officially over as of 12:01 am ET on Thursday, allowing production to begin on a number of highly anticipated projects.

The exact terms of the deal have not yet been publicized, but are expected to be revealed when the board gets the agreement on Friday (Nov. 10). But, according to Deadline, AMPTP had proposed a “historic” deal on Nov. 3 that made big strides in wages and AI protections.

The Iron Claw premieres in theaters Dec. 22.
