There’s no doubt about it — we’re very much into skincare, whether we’re interviewing dermatologists and asking about the best products for acne or product-testing the best vitamin C serums.
So, when one of our favorite brands forays from its moment in the facial-skincare sun to body care, we’re even more excited (because why not extend benefits to not just your face but your whole body).
Enter the new Body Care collection from Youth To The People. Inspired by the brand’s three best-selling collections, this is a trio of sensorial elevated body care products — a trifecta to help bring ritual and wellness to your body care routine.
On Dec. 23, the brand unveiled its new Superfood + Niacinamide Body Cleanser ($39), 10% AHA + Yerba Mate Smoothing Body Scrub ($42) and Hydrate + Glow Dream Body Butter ($48). In other words — wash, exfoliate, nourish, repeat.
“I knew we needed to bring skincare to the body,” Greg Gonzalez, co-founder of Youth To The People, exclusively shared with the New York Post. “I was inspired by the idea of showing your body the same love you show your face, so with the new Body Collection, I want everybody to practice self love and radical acceptance by caring for every square inch of their skin, both face and body.”
Spoiler alert: I had the opportunity to try out the trio ahead of launch because, let’s face it, I’m all about the latest and greatest in skincare (read our reviews on the ELEMIS cleansing balm and new Drunk Elephant moisturizer for proof). When Youth To The People notified me of the new drop, I practically speed-dialed the brand and hopped in the shower.
Because my skin is both dry and sensitive, I have to be cautious when trying new skincare or makeup products). After plenty of conversations with board-certified dermatologists, skincare experts and estheticians, I have a pretty good grasp of what ingredients work well on my skin (hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, especially) and what types of formulations I should gear my routine toward.
For that reason, here’s the criteria I kept in mind before using the new Youth To The People Body Care collection:
When I first unpackaged The Superfood + Niacinamide Body Cleanser from Youth To The People’s signature neutral boxes, I immediately thought, “Wow, this is exactly like the cleanser!”
Here’s the backstory — I’ve been using the brand’s Superfood Cleanser ($39) since I was in high school. At the time, it was a new phenomenon (a cleanser that contains good-for-you greens like kale and spinach? Now that has to be revitalizing to your skin!). Now, it remains as a cleanser staple in my skincare routine every now and then.
With the same silky gel consistency, The Superfood + Niacinamide Body Cleanser features a superfood extract blend containing niacinamide, plant-derived surfactants (you know, to really cleanse every inch of your body), antioxidants and subtle, non-overpowering fragrance of fresh greens, black pepper and cedarwood.
In other words, it’s your best spa day wrapped into a cleanser that’s non-irritated and gives you that aah feeling.
The Superfood + Niacinamide Body Cleanser

Pros:
Cons:
The The Superfood + Niacinamide Body Cleanser is a woodsy body wash formulated with superfood extracts, niacinamide, antioxidants and plant-derived surfactants for a non-stripping cleanse that doesn’t disrupt the skin barrier.
At first glance, the Superfood + Niacinamide Body Cleanser has an almost translucent look to it, making it resemble your hand soap or liquid all-purpose cleaner. When first rubbed into my hand, I felt like I was applying a lotion because of how soothing it feels. It’s also refreshing — a nice touch to a body cleanser to give you that recognizable clean we all crave.
Not only is it extremely moisturizing to the skin (which is impressive, given that the product is not a cream by any means) it also instantly brightened my skin. Especially for dry skin types, dull and rougher-looking skin is sometimes inevitable, but this high-grade product delightfully amped up the radiance wherever I applied it.
I was also glad to be using a body care product with niacinamide. Just like your most effective skincare routine, having key ingredients such as this is important for giving your full body the much-needed love and anti-aging benefits it deserves. Simply put, the quality is there and doesn’t go unnoticed.
I didn’t find my skin to feel stripped after using the product, either. Though it’s not completely unscented, the subtle woodsy and fresh scent didn’t bother me (which speaks volumes for my mild sensitive and dry skin). While it’s not fully apt to tackle more sensitive parts of the body — like your underarms or bikini area — I didn’t expect it to. I resort to more delicate body care products to handle those areas, to begin with.
As mentioned, I’m a bit hesitant to use anything with the word “scrub” in it because of my mild sensitive skin. However, the dry skin side of me also needs some exfoliation for the inevitable rough spots that take shape on my elbows, kneecaps and near my ankles.
So, the 10% AHA + Yerba Mate Smoothing Body Scrub was one to try. First off, its tube is aesthetically pleasing — as is the entire new collection from Youth To The People — making your next #shelfie Instagram post a winner (if you’re a beauty buff, anyway).
10% AHA + Yerba Mate Smoothing Body Scrub

Pros:
Cons:
The 10% AHA + Yerba Mate Smoothing Body Scrub is a dual exfoliant treatment for re-energized and velvety soft skin. Because it contains 10% AHA, upcycled olive seed powder and jojoba oil beads, you’re receiving a trifecta that teams up to polish away texture, KP (that’s keratosis pilaris, for short) and roughness.
When I squeezed some of the product onto the flip side of my hand, I instantly noticed two things: (1) the formulation visibly glows without offering a shiny or greasy look and (2) its minute cleansing beads are like the smallest bath salts you’ll find. As a whole, the scrub is nourishing and non-abrasive, even on sensitive skin like mine.
It’s the ideal complement to the cleanser. The kicker? It really helped polish away those rougher areas on my elbows, kneecaps and around my ankles. However, I can’t say with 100% certainty this will be effective on extremely severe skin types, like rosacea, eczema or other conditions. You’ll want to consult with your dermatologist before using any scrubs for certain skin concerns.
While I didn’t find its 10% AHA count noticeably alarming, I’ve been told in the past by dermatologists to begin with a low concentration of an ingredient to see how your skin reacts to it. For example, I was told to use a 1% concentration of retinol when trying out the product to assess the nature of my skin first, and then build up to 2%, 3% and so on.
For reference, I’ve been using AHA products for a while, as glycolic acid has been studied to confer skin benefits when used consistently and appropriately. For this review, I do want to note that 10% is relatively high, though my skin looked incredibly radiant and soothed after use. I reach for this product the most out of the brand’s new trio of products, though it’s recommended (and also nice) to use them as a unit.
You’ll also want to be sure to apply this product slowly, as it is an exfoliator. The gentler you apply and rub it into your skin, the more delicate it’ll be. This is something I learned that came with experience.
I love me a good body butter. I have tubs upon tubs of them in a basket in my bathroom vanity cabinet (the reality of product-testing, full-time). My dry skin practically drinks them up and they’re the ultimate investment if you’re a beauty lover — though they may cost upwards of $50 or even more, the spa-grade nourishment they confer is unbeatable.
For that reason, I was most excited to give the new Youth To The People Hydrate + Glow Dream Body Butter a try.
The Hydrate + Glow Dream Body Butter

Pros:
Cons:
The TK is formulated with 15% moisture complex (jojoba, shea, capuacu and hyaluronic acid), peptides, niacinamide and protective superberry Antioxidants for that deeply nourishing, visibly brightening and firming glow you’ve been wanting. According to Youth To The People (and our testing) it hydrates for 48 hours before needing to reapply, in most cases.
Simply put, The Hydrate + Glow Dream Body Butter is indulgent. It’s a tub of greatness, if we can talk sister to sister, and leaves my skin well-nurtured, moisturized and a bit brighter than how it was initially.
Once I used this body butter, I knew it was up there among some of my favorites. While it doesn’t absorb into the skin as quickly, it’s comparable to some of the body butters I can’t live without, like the OSEA Malibu Undaria Algae Body Butter ($56) and the Herbivore Botanicals CLOUD MILK Coconut + Maca Firming Body Cream ($40).
Its texture is truly what makes this body butter among the A-list I’ve tried, with the formulation rich yet not too heavy when dabbled onto the skin. Because it includes shea butter and antioxidants, it truly helps deliver that much-needed moisture and skin-boosting benefits. For its quality formula and large tub, it’s well worth the $48 price point.
Collectively, the Youth To The People new Body Care drop is worth the buy, whether you’re looking to revamp your skincare products or are looking for some new ones to try, this trio has the it-factor — the tested-and-approved trio that your skin will surely thank you for.
